Leading political journal CQPolitics.com has amended its forecasts for several key Congressional races that show Democrats making strides and Republicans prospects sliding, RAW STORY has learned.
Most significantly, the site predicted serious trouble for pro-war GOP Rep. Chris Shays of Connecticut and four-term veteran Rep. John Sweeney of New York, both facing spirited Democratic challengers and voter disenchantment.
Formerly solid Senate and House races in Arizona, Illinois, Minnesota and Rhode Island are now up for grabs or favor the Democratic nominee, due to reasons such as changing demographics, larger war chests after costly primaries, and in-house Republican grappling.
Particularly vulnerable is Rhode Island Sen. Lincoln Chafee, perceived by many within the GOP as "too left-leaning" and now locked in battle with a Republican challenger deemed more suitable to conservatives.
