Diabolical RW spin alert: "Democrats are against wiretapping."

This just went down on Hardball.

Item: The British terrorist were caught largely because of wiretapping by UK authorities.

So Tweety and guests talked about how unfortunate it is that the Democrats are against wiretapping. The gist of the segment was "If Democrats were in charge, planes would be shot out of the sky because we couldn't wiretap."

DEMOCRATS ARE NOT AGAINST WIRETAPPING! We're against illegal wiretapping without a warrant!!!

Wiretapping without a warrant is in violation of the Fourth Amendment. All you need to wiretap a terrorist is a warrant.

And the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) allows the government to get a warrant retroactively. So according to the law, they can wiretap first, get a warrant later, so the warrant requirement is in no way a hindrance.

We need Democratic response to this crap!!!

in this case!!! This B.S. about "If Dems were in charge, the plot wouldn't have been foiled" is just that -- CRAP! The Brits were doing exactly what the Dems would do, and IT WORKED!!!!

We should go on the offensive with this: The British were able to foil a major terrorist operation WITHOUT warrantless wiretapping. (And we should hint that if this administration has to have warrantless wiretapping, they are obviously up-to-no-good.)

The "Democrats won't let us wiretap" sound bite is exactly the kind of calculated misinformation the uninformed person will buy hook, line, and sinker.

He repeated the corrections many times and in many ways, simple and direct. I'm not a huge fan of his, I prefer my meat rare; but he IS good at schooling idiots so that they don't feel insulted.

I spent the last couple of hours looking for an answer to this! Randy had mentioned earlier today they had warrants too!. Is there any proof one way or the the other, if they had warrants?
