CBS: Terror threat diverts London-DC flight to Boston

RAW STORY
Published: Wednesday August 16, 2006

A United Airlines flight from London to Washington DC was diverted to Boston after a confrontation with a female passenger on board the plane. The FBI has confirmed the incident.

The passenger, said CBS4 in Boston, had "a screwdriver, vaseline, water and a book referencing al Qaeda," along with matches, and claimed to be claustrophobic.

How the woman got the items onto the plane amid tight security has not yet been made clear.

10. I dunno..."Petroleum" jelly, matches; maybe she planned to set
herself on fire? Still doesn't explain the screwdriver, though.

13. I think it is the 24 hour news cycle that has jumped the shark...
along with alot of other things. You might be right about humanity, we're working hard to destroy ourselves.

5. This irrational fear of terrorists is getting a little out of hand...
The terrorists want to disrupt by fear. Why are we letting them get away with it?

The chimp is doing the bidding of the terrorists by constantly using the fear tactic for political advantage.

Enough already!

Home of the brave?......I don't think so....more like Home of the chimp-licking weenies.

12. A book referencing Al Qaeda? Doesn't every pro-Bush book do that?
As for the other stuff... okay, a screwdriver is potentially harmful in this post 9-11 world. But don't you think about 1,000 get through security every day b/c someone just forgot they had a multipurpose tool or a travel kit of some kind? Water? Vaseline?

So they divert a flight and upset the entire transatlantic air transport system.

Cuckoobananas doesn't even beging to describe the world we're living in.

17. This article really doesn't say anything. Was the passenger "confronted"
putting vaseline on her lips? Reading a book containing the words "Al Qaeda" in it? It doesn't say a damned thin.

you can watch the video!

http://www.cnn.com/2006/TRAVEL/08/16/flight.diverted.ap/index.html

"The federal security official said there was no indication of terrorism and denied reports that the woman had a screw driver, matches and a note referring to al-Qaeda.
The female passenger aboard United Flight 923 said she was claustrophobic and became very upset and got into some kind of confrontation with the flight crew, said George Naccara, federal security director for the Transportation Security Administration for Massachusetts' airport."

24. It can't. You need to have duct tape too
Then McGyver could really go medieval on your ass! Who knows, maybe this was McGyver's wife or something.

What BSNBC was saying this morning was that they had one unconfirmed rumor that she didn't have the stuff, and they actually interrupted their broadcast to say that they had another report that she didn't have any of this stuff! And surprisingly, they had no idea who the rumor came from! My bet is that it either came from 1)MSNBC themselves, or 2)an unnamed Bush administration official.

25. It's all so confusing.
My mind is reeling. I'm still wondering why they feel soooo much paranoia is needed. It makes me think that the song, "American Idiot" by Green Day really is the absolute truth. I thought at one time they were exaggerating it a little bit. Now, I think they were understating it. How hysterical are people going to get before the paranoia finally breaks and we can start treating them for it.
