MO-McCaskill in hot water over alleged illegal drug use.
Edited on Mon Aug-21-06 07:14 PM by nickshepDEM
Sorry, I usually link only from credibile sources; however, I cannot find the direct link to the You Tube interviews. Therefore, I have to route the links through redstate.com.

Anyway...

Link to TV interviews. (You Tube)

Apparently she admits to experimenting in the 60's, but the investigative reporter seems to think it goes further than that... a federal inquiry into meth labs.

Anyway you look at it, this is bad news for her campaign. Even if the federal inquiry into the meth labs turns out to be false… she still admits to using illegal drugs in the 60’s and that aint gonna’ help in rural MO. She’s going to be branded as a hippie now (all you ex-hippies, Im not saying theres anything wrong with that!).

2. I don't think so. Most people in this country tried some drugs and the
2000 and 2004 campaigns really put that issue to bed. You'll notice that no one really made it a big deal as expected, especially since Bush is the one with the worst history.

Wasn't it Kucinich who NEVER even tried pot who got labeled the hippie candidate?

I wouldn't sweat it - even us "rural" folks were surrounded by pot and acid in the 60s and 70s.

7. Heh - the only way I experienced acid was being dosed at a SanFran party
at age 26. My Catholic upbringing made me see the devil trying to take me to hell - - not fun.

Had I not been raised so strictly I might have had a good time. ;)

8. Different things to different people
to some it is the Garden of Earthly Delights...to others it is Dante's Inferno....
thinking patterns grossly distorted and you may encounter aspects and areas of your psyche that you are not prepared to deal with...............some have deeply mystical experiences, some get scared by the seeming lack of control.....; your senses are altered, not necessarily enhanced, but how your brain interprets sensory input can be quite bizarre...;
I think if you go with an open mind, and be willing to let things happen and just enjoy the ride, it can be a very entertaining experience - for the first few hours at least, after that, it gets boring, because it stays with you for several hours

36. There's really no such thing as "acid", or LSD anymore.
But back in the early '70's, you could still obtain it, and it was a lot of fun, if you were in the right frame of mind, to begin with.

Edited on Tue Aug-22-06 08:58 AM by Totally Committed
in the 60's and 70's... Being a hippie is a mindset... a belief system, not a drug history. And, btw, there's plenty of evidence of politicians kids sowing some pretty wild oats on YouTube these days, too. Being young and being foolish sometimes goes hand-in-hand. That's why there's "maturity"... you know?

4. Funny. Well, not really funny. In fact, not funny at all.
They didn't have anything about it on the news and I'm absolutely sure that if there was so much as the tiniest whisper about it or anything to it, the local media would have been shouting it from the nearest church steeple.

18. Look at this regarding METH LABS -- Sounds like sour grapes to me!
...McCaskill was one of the first prosecutors nationwide to crack down on meth, leading General Barry McCaffrey, the head of the Office of National Drug Control Policy to state that her approach was "a model for the rest of the nation."

...While McCaskill supports the goals of the recently passed Combat Meth Act, she believes that it cannot undo the damage caused by Talent-backed cuts that are now crippling rural meth law enforcement. Talent has a long record of voting against critical funding for the war on meth

Coincidence the smear has something to do with "Meth Labs"...?

I don't think so.

Me and George Bush, now President of the United States for the past 6 years, both used illegal drugs in the 60s. The Difference is I stopped in the 60s, while President Bush kept going with it well into the 80s. Also, unlike President Bush, I am NOT an acoholic.

I'm sorry is that story supposed to be considered damming? It says she was investigated almost 10 years ago. Was she indicted? Charged? No, she wasn't.

Anything else these mousy little reporters with nothing better to do have comes from a coked up meth whore in prison.

Please.

17. Typical smear
They're basically trying to tie her to this woman just because they worked for the same department. Un fucking believable. They apparently investigated McCaskill at the time and she came up totally clean (one would imagine, since they didn't find anything.)

Better that this comes up now than in two months, I suppose.

26. McCaskill = Combat Meth Act .... Talent = Cut funds on Meth enforcement
Taking care of the problem of Meth Labs in her state is one of the things people admire most about her.

They are accussing her of participating in something she's been busting her ass to fight so hard against?

Talent has to be livid that she's doing so well, and that the Fraternal Order of Police are backing McCaskill because of her work on the "passed Combat Meth Act"..

30. Looks like a hack local reporter trying to pretend he found something
I watched both videos and his emphasis was always sinister, even when the words and paperwork were tame to nothing.

Disgraceful that he showed pictures of a homemade meth lab, and then interviewed McCaskill later in the same segment, almost implying a tie-in to McCaskill.
