George Allen......No Show!
With Webb signs in windows, reporters, city leaders, and polite protestors waited for Allen in Staunton, but he had other plans.

1. CNN showed Allen being stalked by a giant monkey and a banana
I loved when Democrats stick it to a racist pig like Allen!

7. Who knew
that we could shut them up--at least temporarily by just showing up in costume? Now may be the time to invest in a costume shop

2. I would never have imagined this could . . .

Keep any reasonably capable pol off balance for more than 48 hours.

I guess Allen isn't "reasonably capable." Maybe Webb can pull this out after all. Remember, Virginia recently elected a Dem governor, despite regularly being called a Republican state. Maybe they haven't quite figured out the true political composition of all those new suburbs in Northern Virginia.

3. “I’ve said all I care to say about it, and I’m moving forward,”
That's the last line of the article.

Tell ya what, Felix ...... you may wanna 'move forward'. Good luck with that, pal. Your racist past has not only caught up with you, it is now defining you.

I hope the hole in the end of your dick heals over, your bladder fills up ..... and you explode. You worthless piece of racist shit.

12. Don't you think he KNEW what he was saying?...
It's a French Tunisian slur and his mother is French Tunisian.

14. Yer damned right he knew what he was saying.
One need only watch the tape to see that. It was a racist slur and he knew it was a racist slur and his good ole boy audience knew it was a racist slut.

Yanno, these obscure code words are in alarminly wide use and have been for years. Back in the mid 70s there was radio guy (in Memphis, if memory serves) who kept using the word 'reggins' (REE-gins) when referring to things done by some particular group of alleged criminals. It didn't take long to figure out that it was simply the backward spelling of 'nigger'

In an industry segment in which I used to work, there was the term 'mon-backs'. It referred to black tarmac workers who were supposedly mumbling that as they were directing catewring trucks backing away from airplanes.

Racism is ugly and its everywhere. The code words are the worst because they fly under our radar.

Macaca my ass. He knew DAMNED well what he was saying. Any fool can see it in all its ugly glory.

10. In case anybody's not been paying attention ..... this story has been
played and replayed endlessly for almost two weeks now. Most recently, I saw it last night on Hairballz. Today I wasn't watching any newzteevee so I can't say it was on today. But I'm bettin' it was. Its also been steady fodder in the print media, at least around here.

Not getting as much play, but mentioned none the less, is the whole, larger, racist thing that's followed Allen for a while. The stars and bars, the noose-in-the-office thing, etc.

I said in another thread that I was a bit worried that Webb wasn't hitting hard on it - striking as the iron's heat was at it highest. Someone (rightly) pointed out the Kaine (D-Warner Redux) won over Kilgore (R-Hate Merchant) for VA gov last time exactly because Kilgore went negative.

And for what its worth, if Allen doesn't cook his own goose, that squirrley shithead campaign manager of his Dick Wadhams, just keeps the fuel on the fire with his endlessly tweaking the official 'why' of the original macaca thing. Sorry Dickieboy, but its on tape and its ugly, ugly, ugly. Your guy's a racist asshole and he showed his ass in that little encounter. Face it, bozo, that tape will be your guy's version of the windsurfer crap your guys played endlessly in the 04 hunt. Deal with it, asshole.

Here's Wadhams ...... the maestro who put Thune in front of Daschle with an evil mix of slime, mud, and olies. Rove2. Why do all these guys look like posterboys for the sex offenders club? These are the guys who act all tough and shit and then sleep on Superman sheets and wear Spiderman underwear. Fucking Republicans .... all the same ....

Hang in there, Mr. Webb. This clown's on YOUR side, sir.

18. Daniel Schorr discussed it this morning on NPR.
I :loveya: Daniel Schorr anyway, and it was great to hear him cover it this morning. He was gentle though (in his inimitable manner) ... but that will be more effective!
