Poll question: For those who have voted for Repub candidates in the past
This poll is for those of us who may have voted for a Republican candidate or three over the years. In fact, you may have even been a Republican. I'm not interested in your past history, just your views to the future.

I'd like this poll to be limited to those who have voted at least once for a Republican candidate.

1. With this administration I have seen how almost all Republicans enable
the neo-con right wingers. A vote for a moderate like Lincoln Chafee is a vote for a Republican majority and continued distruction of America. I used to think Guiliani was a moderate until he busted his ass to get people like Bush and Santorum re-elected.

2. Bingo. A vote for the *best* Repuke enables the psychotic
anti-American element of their party to continue their destruction of this once-great nation.

13. He was a Republican up until the psychotic element took over (2001)
When he realized what douchebags the Repukes had become collectively, and how they ahd been overrun by neocons and lunatics, he bolted.

3. I still vote completely based on people
Stright Dem ticket this year, based on the people. The Dems running in the elections I get to vote on are better - and it's not even close. I *may* vote Hagel in 2008. I'll reserve judgement until I see who's running against him. I might have voted Osborrn had he won the republican governor's primary, but I digress.

4. ANYONE who is a Republican will automatically be a no-go
for me now, and in the future. They will forever be part of the horrendous devastation that Party has done this country -- even the ones who come along later to "carry on".

P.S. That goes for the DINOs who vote with them, as well, btw.

15. I thought I should add... I have never voted for a Republican, but...
came close once. That will never happen again. Voting for ANY Republican (even one who calls him/herself a "Democrat") will NEVER happen again... not under ANY circumstances.

I feel THAT STRONGLY about it.

5. The neocons will be running as Dems based on the mindset...
that it is the party rather than those who are controlling the party being responsible. Elections will forever depend on the swing voters rather than partisans.

6. i've only voted for two republicans (who won)...
...in my life. The first was Clifford Case, the last GOP senator from NJ (1970), and doing so wasn't a mistake. The other one wasn't Case, and that vote turned out to be a very big mistake (not that it was apparent at the time). I've learned that lesson with the GOP, and i'm learning it again with Democrats...

7. OK, OK, It's a fair cop
I voted for a Republican once. But only because the guy was a nebbish and was running against Dixie Lee Ray. Ray served one term as Washington governor. She claimed to be a marine biologist, but really, she was a right wing loony posing as a Democrat. That lady never met a radio-isotope she didn't like.
Everyone was glad she lost. Reagan made her head of the AEC.

8. Republicans act in concert with
one united voice behind the great leader and united they will fall.

If they cannot act individually but only a part of a collective then I will treat them as a collective and vote as if they are all as evil and stupid as the great leader.

9. I voted for Governor Ehrlich (R) in 2002.
Edited on Sun Aug-27-06 08:14 PM by nickshepDEM
I dont regret it all though. KKT would have been a train wreck. Plus, had KKT won in 2002, we wouldnt have O'Malley in 2006. :)

Im open to voting for one Republican this year. States Attorney for Baltimore County - Steve Bailey (R). There is a great democrat running in the primary, but Im afraid he may not make it to the general. He's up against a poular trial lawyer with near universal name id. If the trail lawyer is the democratic nominee, I will vote for Bailey (R).

Other than that, straight (D) for me.

Edit: A family friend and neighbor is running for the MD House of Delegates as a Republican. He's an Ehrlich lackey, but overall a decent guy. I may give him a look in the general election.

10. I vote for the individual..95% of the time that's a Democrat
Edited on Sun Aug-27-06 08:56 PM by flaminbats
I have voted for a few unopposed local Republicans..mainly because they are unopposed but also because they are nothing like national Republicans. SO FAR...they don't slash basic government services, borrow to fund government spending, or attack anyone who doesn't support this war in Iraq. Voting for them also allows me to use that when going to these officials for help on a local issue.

I plan to vote Democratic for every state office except for one..I have a close friend running for Superintendent, who is a Libertarian on the ballot. I am actively supporting the Democrat running for Congress in my district, I've already donated money to this guy and have gone door to door to win votes for him! I am doing the same for the Democrat running for Governor in my state.

11. Some democrats give the democratic party a bad name.
Edited on Sun Aug-27-06 09:35 PM by KBlagburn
I voted for Guy Hunt for Alabama governor and he was removed from office for ethics violations.

I voted for Repub School Superintendant because the demo candidate was caught for DUI. I wont vote for her again.

It will be a cold day b4 I vote repub again.

When I ran for local school board, the local demo party wanted to meet with me so they could approve of me or they would not let me on the ballot, even though it is not required. I met with them only after contacting the state party to lodge a complaint. The state party told them it was bull****. When I finally agreed to the meeting they asked my about my party loyalty. I have ran twice on the demo ballot. I told them as far as my loyalty, that I was probably the only one in alabama who voted for Mondale and had worked for every demo pres candidate since. I also believe Jimmy Carter is on of our greatest presidents. I will tell you, even though I am now a yellow dog democrat there are still alot of people in the democratic party that would make a person think twice.

Like the old adage goes. "Christians give christianity a bad name".
the same could be said about the democratic party.

16. I've only voted for one REPUKE ever.
For mayor of my city. She was a family friend. I voted for her twice but when she ran the third time (and lost) I voted for the DEM.

She was a decent mayor but in the end, she acted like a typical puke.

17. I was an independent until January 2001. I will never EVER vote for repugs
again. I don't care if they're Barry Goldwater and Mother Theresa rolled into one.

In fact, after the trials are held and this current crop of rethuglicans are behind bars, I hope they outlaw it like they did the Nazi party after WWII.

Never Again.

19. If you're into historical perspective, compare today's neopukes
to Nazi Germany. Many striking parallels, hence my comment about banning the party when all's said and done.

Yes, there are anomalies like Zell Miller and Jim Traficant, but they are exceptions not the norm, and it's assumed that whack-jobs are exempted in discussions such as this. At least they are from my perspective.

20. I voted for Lowell Weicker (R) in 1988 when Joe Lieberman
ran against him. I had liked Weicker for his role in the Nixon impeachment, and had resented Joe's running the sleeping bear ads and siding with the right leaning folks of the time.

I also voted for Weicker in 1990 when he ran for and won the governorship in CT. (Though it was as an independent, not as a repub).

21. I ALWAYS vote for the person.
I wish they didn't even list their political party on the ballot. That said, I'm planning on voting for the democrat in our house race this year, but he's a hands-down favorite anyway. No senate race in Oklahoma this year.
