Lieberman's Op-Ed in today's Courant uses Rovian techniques
Rovian as in "My weakness is actually my strength."

See, Lieberman, the 18-year incumbent, is actually the candidate for change. Lamont is actually the candidate for the same old same old. Uh, right.

snip

"My opponent's idea of change is no change. He wants to simply wrap the partisanship and polarization of the last few years in a blue ribbon instead of red one.

I have a different plan. I want to build a new politics of unity and purpose that will cut through the gridlock in Washington and solve problems for my constituents, my state and my country. After serving you for 18 years in the Senate, I still believe that together, Team Connecticut can renew America's greatness and make our future as good as we all want it to be."

1. "Team Connecticut" just sent you to the showers, Joe.
Do you understand that?

They don't want a Bush wannabe representing them.

4. looks like the candidate for the "Connecticut for Lieberman" Party
doesn't understand the word "team". See, team players generally don't threaten the other kids with the old "if its not my way, I take the ball and go home" sorta whiney tactics. Team players, don't generally name the entire team, after themselves (the Connecticut for Lieberman Party... fire the advisor who came up with that name for the "party"). Team players don't force other team members to "scream uncle" to the other side with a delusion that if one side keeps ceding, than there is "unity"; Under the GOP rule that kind of "unity" only escalates the damage being done to our country and its citizens on multiple fronts.

It is a Rovian message. But somehow the name of his new party "Connecticut for Lieberman" rather undercuts the "team player for change" message... and underscores the "political opportunism/its all about me" sentiment that some hold for Lieberman.

6. So Lieberman wants three parties? To get rid of gridlock? Is this what it
is? Cause when there are three parties the one in the middle wins most of the time. And that would be only very conservative Liberals and neocons. Freepers would be in the right party. Most liberals in the left party.

We usually have one party in Canada that wins. Federally. But our centre (ignore the Harper push-poll questionnaire that is advertised at the top of the DU for Canadian viewers) in Canada is hugely to left of your centre.

I don't know.

I think the neocons wanted three party rule. Was not only the middle east they wanted to smash to pieces. Seems your own party system too.

7. and the cool thing for Joe, is that the third party has his name in it!
He has a lock on the 'Connecticut for Lieberman' Party's presidential nomination.

9. I cannot read any more on Joe. The end of a career because he
flew too close to the neocons. I cannot watch him flip. Rove has him where he wants him.
