So, this is the deal. This is my brain. That is your brain. We come to DU from different backgrounds, from different cultures, from different parts of the country. We are of varying ages and different educational backgrounds. We have had different life experiences.

Don't expect to agree with everybody on everything.

Choosing up sides and forming fractious gangs based on shared outrage/adoration is lame.

Don't bestow or withdraw respect based on an opinion or what one finds amusing or doesn't.

We are not Heathers; we are just different and, in the words of Stuart Smalley, that's okay.

There is a scary amount of truth in "Dirty Dancing," eh? Like, appearances don't mean a thing about the person inside, things aren't always what they seem for anyone, and if Richard Marx could snag Cynthia Rhoades, there's hope for us all.

Sometimes it is the only reference that fits.

I've been resurrecting the phrase "What is your DAMAGE, Heather??!!?" a lot lately--very useful for bad drivers, people who try to cut in line or have meltdowns at the register, etc.

I have the strangest photobucket album period.

The Heathers all looked and dressed and thought alike. So naturally, there had to be an uber Heather and that meant killing the other Heathers even thought they were soul sisters of a sort (now nobody needs to see the movie;)

The White House is a Heather operation. They hate each other and the hate monger in chief is the biggest Heather.

It's totally unacceptable to embrace their shit. When I see blatant disrespect around here it pisses me off and when I see deliberate attacks by people who post the same lie over and over again to litter a thread with slanders against the OP, it really sends me up the wall (especially when I'm the damn OP;)

Great post...so DU is like Dirty Dancing huh? Maybe that's why it gets about 2.0 million unique hits a day.
