Group:GOP mailer likens immigrants to "Desease"
A pro-immigrant group called on Republican hopeful Peter Roskam"to publicly denounce and repudiate" a" GOP mailer that the group charges treats immigrants as 'some type of disease."

The Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights dispatched a letter to Roskam criticzing the independent mailing sent out by the National Republican Congressional Committee in west suburban 6th Congressional District.

These mailings attack your Democratic opponent,Tammy Duckworth--but more importantly they also attack immigrants and are extremely misleading the letter reads

3. Yes, I think we can call the GOP fascists....
<snip>
Extract from the Speech by Adolf Hitler, January 30, 1939

For this is what they say:

1. "We," that is the democracies, "are not in a position to take in the Jews." Yet in these empires there are not 10 people to the square kilometer. While Germany, with her 135 inhabitants to the square kilometer, is supposed to have room for them!

2. They assure us: We cannot take them unless Germany is prepared to allow them a certain amount of capital to bring with them as immigrants.

For hundreds of years Germany was good enough to receive these elements, although they possessed nothing except infectious political and physical diseases. What they possess today, they have by a very large extent gained at the cost of the less astute German nation by the most reprehensible manipulations. <more if your stomach can stand it>

6. The Republican Party is one of extremes. But they do hate immigrants.
They either want them (illegally or or here on "work visas" instead of voting citizens) for near-slave labor or they consider them a "disease" all together and want any who isn't caucasian out of the nation.

I think the Democratic Party has claimed the middle ground on this issue (assuming they don't push for a Ronald Reagan-type amnisty for illegals who snuck in here rather than standing in line) if we win majorities in 2006.

7. What if there really isn't a legal method for them to come here?
I think the "they should do it legally" argument assumes that they really have a choice when they don't.

Its true that employers can give out H2 visas for immigrants to come here to work. But very few employers use the H2 program because its a huge hassle. The program requires that they pay for their travel to and from Mexico, give them free housing and pay them a wage that is that same as other Americans. Because of these costs its actually more expensive for them to hire legal immigrants than it is to hire legal citizens. Why would they do that when they can just hire illegals? Those that do use the H2 program often abuse their legal immigrant workers, since if the employers stops sponsoring them or if they quit then they must leave the country.

A closed border makes no sense because American workers have to compete with cheap labor regardless if there is a closed border or not. Closing the border and sending the illegals back would cause businesses to leave the US to hire cheaper labor elsewhere. By having non-criminal workers come here it not only helps American businesses but it gives them a wage that they would not get in Mexico.
