any reaction to Olbermann in MSM?
Please post any commentary you might find on Keith Olbermann's world-class smackdown of Rumsfeld and this administration.

1. Not so much the MSM,
but Rachel Maddow and Stephanie Miller both played clips this morning and gave him props. Of course, from Stephie that's nothing unusual. I'm not so sure about Rachel, but she really played him up this morning.

5. I really doubt it....
http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/CNN_MSNBC_ratings_on_rise_as_0830.html

...Ratings for The O'Reilly Factor fell 15 percent, while MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann increased 55% and CNN's Paula Zahn Now rose 32 percent.....

6. You've got that entirely incorrect
One doesn't flush ones ammunition.

I predict that, once the talking-heads get their marching orders from the Ministry of Truth, the poo will begin to fly.

7. I'd be amazed if it got any coverage at all
Great as it was, it isn't really newsworthy - except maybe as a background or filler story.

To report on it, the MSM would also have to admit to the own **lack** of appropriate journalistic standards.

Nope, I don't think the three monkey media will be covering Olbermann any time soon.

9. What sort of coverage were you expecting?
I mean, generally speaking, what other news shows did in covering a story doesn't make for a story.

11. I disagree
Many times the MSM has covered other media coverage. As an example, the recent segment on Joe Scarborough's show asking whether or not Bush is "an idiot" received quite a bit of coverage.

12. Yes, but...
that played to a larger theme, that of conservatives and Republicans abandoning the president. And it's certainly the exception not the rule, in any case. I don't think Olbermann's speech merits any coverage by other media -- heck, he's given equally great rants about equally offensive characters before. Instead, it remains for other members of the media to cover Rumsfeld's words themselves, and do so in a way that gives deeper meaning to the Secretary's absurd attacks.

The question, then, is not "Why isn't the MSM covering Olbermann's coverage of Rumsfeld's speech?"

The question is, "Why are there not more journalists covering Rumsfeld in similar fashion?"

10. Would Fox or CNN would give time to a speech by a competitor? NT

13. I know this is a stretch...
but perhaps an outfit like Rolling Stone will pick this up. After all, they placed Mr. Olbermann on their Mavericks '05 list based on his Katrina speech.
