Dean says we are in trouble in war on terror, critiques Rumsfeld and Rove
Howard Dean was Fox News Sunday this morning, and it replays tonight on the national Fox New at 6:00 PM. I plan to watch it then, but only that part. I heard Condi got softball stuff.

I did find the transcript though, and I hear it was a good interview considering Dean had to explain everything twice because the Fox people have so much trouble understanding.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,213220,00.html

Wallace asks where we are in the war on terror.

DEAN: I think we're in trouble. We have not pursued the war on terror with the vigor that we should have because we've gotten bogged down in this civil war in Iraq. What we ought to be doing is going after Usama bin Laden full-scale. We ought to capture him, we ought to kill him — or kill him. And then we need to fight the terrorists which blew up the World Trade Center and killed 3,000 Americans.

And speaking of being in trouble in Iraq, HD mentions Rummy's threats to fire anyone who proposed a plan. Also he brings up Pakistan's live and let live with Bin Laden.

There was an article in the paper today — I'm sure you saw — that Secretary of Defense Don Rumsfeld said, "We don't want a post-war plan for the reconstruction of Iraq," and then he threatened to fire any general who proposed one.

We are not paying attention to what needs to be done. Today, or this week, northern Pakistan was written off by President Musharraf of Pakistan. They have now a treaty that they won't go — or an agreement with the tribes that they won't go in and enforce their jurisdiction.

And Dean refuses to apologize to Karl Rove even though Wallace thinks he should.

EALLACE:Governor, now that we've learned that Rove wasn't the one who leaked the name, that in fact the original source of the leak was Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, are you going to give Karl Rove an apology?

DEAN: Absolutely not. I still think he should be fired. Karl Rove discussed the name of a CIA agent at the time of war with a reporter. You're not supposed to do that. And President Bush said that he would fire anybody who did. He did not do that.

1. Dean accused them of "mission creep" as well.....
Democratic Party head Howard Dean accused the administration of "mission
creep" in the war on terrorism and said Bush had used the attacks for
political gain.

"We think the president has played too much politics," he said on Fox. "They
think they can't win the elections unless they talk about terrorism all the
time."

Definition of mission creep:

"mission creep noun. The process by which a mission's methods and goals
change gradually over time."

3. Once again, Howard Dean speaks the TRUTH
I just hope he won't be Julius Caesared by his own party again. If so, he needs to help create a new opposition party - one that I would happily join.

"Howard Dean gave a good performance on this morning’s edition of Fox News Sunday. He breezed through Chris Wallace’s interview with clear, honest and realistic answers. Chairman Dean presented one of the most unified voices for the Democratic Party of the election season so far."

Chris Wallace was most annoying.

Dean said we don't want to slide into an "imperial presidency."
