DeWine on Meet The Press "not in Iraq primarily for the Iraqis"
Edited on Sun Oct-01-06 03:12 PM by jhuth
From Meet The Press today.

"RUSSERT: Senator DeWine, if they want us out, and they’re in favor of attacking us, why are we still there?

SEN. DeWINE: Tim, I was shocked by that as well. But you know, on reflection, this is their country. There’s a lot of things going wrong. You blame someone who is there. Still does not change that we’re not in Iraq primarily for the Iraqis."

I have often though the Iraqi's are irrelevant to * and his party. They acually think of them as the enemy as a whole.

Look at their "Shock and Awe", does that show we are a caring nation? Is it worth the lives of innocent thousands to kill one terrorist?

The Republican Party acts as if the Iraqi people are worthless, and their support of the military strategy used so far proves this.

3. translation: "we have a right to do whatever the hell we want to"
DeWine's statement is an outrage ...

What he's saying is that the US has a right to occupy a sovereign nation if we believe it's in OUR best interest ... our continued occupation, especially focussing on all the oil cocntracts that were IMPOSED on Iraq, is blatant IMPERIALISM ... the fact that better than 80% of the Iraqis want us to leave IMMEDIATELY and that a majority (60%) think it's OK to kill their American OCCUPIERS is exactly what's wrong with the neocon argument and it's ALSO exactly what's wrong with the Democrats' argument that we can't leave "immediately" ...

WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE THERE !!! not for another day; not for another 6 months; not for another year and, did i hear Brown call for another year and a half to two years? yeah, great ... thanks for nothing, Sherrod ...

and on top of all this, Brown voted for the damned torture bill ... not a proud day for Democrats ...

4. Sounds like he inadvertently spoke the truth.
Did anyone think we were there primarily for the Iraqis?

6. Oh wow - I'm really disillusioned
Our president told us that were there to bring freedom and democracy to the Iraqi people.*

Was he not telling the truth?

:sarcasm:

*Excuse #2 which came after Excuse #1 (weapons of mass destruction) didn't pan out.

9. I heard that too.
it was one of the two comments by DeWine that made my jaw drop.

the other was his comments over Rumsfeld - he was so non-committal about if he thought Rumsfeld should resign. He said he didn't approve of the job his was doing by ultimately said, that is the President's decision. Hello? Mike? Are you not U.S. Senator? Is it right that you cannot give your opinion on if you think a Secretary of Defense that is a liability and completely incompetent should resign? And, where the hell is the Congressional oversight? why are you so god damned lazy that you are afraid to do you job?
