Begala: THE MYTH OF MORAL SUPERIORITY IS SHATTERED:
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/showdown06/archives/individual/2006_10/009617.php#more

Say what you will about Paul, he's got no love loss for the current Republican Syndicate....

"The Capitol needs a change. Hell, it needs to be fumigated. And as the stench and filth of GOP sleaze slowly oozes away, let us never forget that these slimeballs, these dirtbags, these moral midgets think they’re better than you and me."

I highly recommend this site....they'll be having a blog on the elections with various DC pundits...could be a fascinating read over the coming weeks.

1. Begala has a fantastic blog - he continues

Why? Power, baby. As Henry Kissinger (R-War Criminal) once said, “Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac.” Like his colleagues in the GOP elite, Reynolds is so enamored with power, so seduced by the money that buys power, so enthralled with the Republicans’ one-party rule that he turned a blind eye to a red flag every dad in America would have noticed.

Tony Snow (R-Hair Spray) similarly has lost his moral bearings. The former Fox host (as if) told CNN’s Soledad O’Brien yesterday, “I hate to tell you, but it’s not always pretty up there on Capitol Hill. And there have been other scandals, as you know, that have been more than simply naughty e-mails.”

Naughty emails, Tony? Naughty emails? Is there anything more callous, more cavalier, more corrupt than laughing off a sexual predator as “naughty”?

The Capitol needs a change. Hell, it needs to be fumigated. And as the stench and filth of GOP sleaze slowly oozes away, let us never forget that these slimeballs, these dirtbags, these moral midgets think they’re better than you and me.

4. I love Begala's IDs
Dennis Hastert (R-Fat Hypocrite)
Tom Reynolds (R-Soon-to-be-Minority)
Henry Kissinger (R-War Criminal)
Tony Snow (R-Hair Spray)

I know, sophomoric, but funny as hell anyway.

16. Sophomoric....but effective.
Sophomoric,I agree.
But instant public ridicule is an effective tool in today's propaganda wars, especially considering ther MTV attention span of today's voters.

19. I like your sig line too, the zero subpoenas
Yes, they have been very diligent with supplying congressional oversight of the Decider,
in fact that's their job, the decider over-rider!

5. this is why we need more like Begela in our party..
I'm glad Paul picked up on this, now let's hear from others like Pelosi, Ben Nelson, Harry Reid, and the DLC for a change! if Mark Foley was a black Democrat in Congress..Republicans would be on this without delay, and strangely enough..so would the Democrats.

8. Begala is VERY smart. He remembers the details of how
the Republicans got into power, and now he's deconstructing their carefully crafted image.

This is an eye-opening experience for the people who voted Republican. Someone I have been corresponding with, who votes Republican, exclaimed in her e-mail, "Is no one honest, anymore?" No dear, they're not, and I hate to tell you but it starts here at home. That kind of corruption has deep roots. You have to fight it when you see it, even if it means losing an account.

9. Begala contributed to this myth. "My mom loves * - he's likeable"
There shouldn't have been such a myth!

11. This is the same GOP Paul could've attacked like that in 2000, 2002, 2004
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 09:10 AM by blm
but was still insisting many Republicans were good guys, and that Bush was a "nice guy" that he really liked personally. Uh...yeah..... MY ASS, Bush is a nice guy.

Begala really knows how to ring that alarm bell, just in time, eh?

I want to like him the way I used to, but, it's hard considering he and Carville refuse to acknowledge voting machine fraud and vote suppression and instead push their whole Dems need to follow Clintons, no matter what, philosophy.

14. I hear ya', blm.....
I have mixed feelings about this guy. He could have been a helluva lot more outspoken about these same people from the 1st days of the Selection. He wasn't. Maybe he senses the teutonic shifting of American political opinion and is trying to make himself relevant again. Not sure, but I hope his commentary gets read by all Democrats and inspires the Left to challenge the decaying high ground of faux Republican moral superiority whereever this assumption is put forth.

18. I absolutely agree with your post.
He is select in who he promotes. He was useless in 2000 and 2004. Interesting that we are starting to hear more from him and that other bald guy now, when there is a possibility a Clinton might be running in 08.

17. Begala is goofy. He is part of the problem in DC. We need decent,
articulate, informed pundits. I don't think his appeal stretches outside a small circle of Dem's.
