Novak says Foley was "talked...into running" this year by NRCC!
So after the emails and IMs were known to Republican House leadership, rather than reigning this guy in in any way, rather than worrying about their lapdog press exposing this, rather than anything remotely responsible....

In another stunning development, Robert Novak today reveals in his column - published in PostOpinion on Page 31 - that even after House GOP leaders knew that Foley had written an inappropriate e-mail to a 16-year-old former male page, they were still urging him to seek re-election.

Novak writes, "A member of the House leadership told me that Foley, under continuous political pressure because of his sexual orientation, was considering not seeking a seventh term this year but that Rep. Tom Reynolds, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), talked him into running."

Outrageous. They were so confident they could cover this up that they talked Foley into running even when HE was more interested in withdrawing.

I couldn't find the Novak column on the Post website. If anyone has a link directly to his column, I would love to read the rest.

1. It should come as no surprise that Republicans are always willing to
sacrifice others if it suits their objectives. If people are harmed, die, whatever, it's no biggie.

So I'm not surprised at all to hear that young teenage boys were allowed to be put in harm's way if it was good for the GOP. Sometimes they have to sacrifice their own. That's just the way it is.

2. But this goes against Hastert's denials
They knew - and they actually ASKED him to run again.

This is beautiful stuff. They are hemmoraghing credibility by the minute. The story breaks, they lie (which is their first instinct), then more comes out, they change theirs lies, then Robert "treason" Novak comes out and blows his own people out of the water with this!
