Jeb Bush refutes rumors that he and Charlie Crist knew of Foley a year ago
....and covered it up.

Jeb Bush Refutes Rumors

In a gaggle with Florida's Capital Press Corps Wednesday, Gov. Jeb Bush flatly refuted allegations posted on an Internet website and circulated widely Tuesday that claims Bush, Attorney General Charlie Crist and Florida Department of Law Enforcement were all told by the federal justice department about Mark Foley's e-mails a year ago but covered it up.

The alleged conspiracy, sourced to "informed sources in Tallahassee" who were not named, was reported on the Wayne Madsen Report website. (The allegations have also been posted by anonymous bloggers in the Buzz comments section.) Madsen's website claims to tackle "the 'politically incorrect' and 'politically embarrassing' stories and holds government officials accountable for their actions."

But Bush was clearly annoyed by the anonymous allegations and repeated what he has said all week, that he knew nothing of Foley's electronic missives until Friday, when the news broke on the national stage.

"If the next governor...is going to have to respond to every blog and every tired little anonymous person who has some bitter part in their soul who wants to express it on the Internet, it’s not going to work," Bush said.

Looking for further verification.... looks like Jebbie and his bud Charlie are a-gettin' closer to the hot seat.

3. I SWEAR. I did not know 1 yr ago. (It was 27 months ago, actually)
The condi defense. If you don't give her the seat #, flight, and exact date, she can't do anything. Same with Jeb, unless you absolutely get the exact time (Daylight savings excluded) to the minute, location and conditions, he can honestly say he was not informed at some other time.

6. Crist's orientation is irrelevant. The issue is whether he, as Attorney
General of Florida, and Jeb, as Governor of Florida knew about Foley's pedophile tendencies for a year or more, and did nothing about it.

And we WILL find out the answer to this question.

16. I feel for ya..Florida would be
such a neat state without all those jackals running it. If there's any way that jebby was covering this up then the voters of Florida have a right to know.

10. Why do you ask?
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 04:39 PM by calimary
I'm asking because I've kinda got my antennae up now. I had a LONG talk with a friend of mine from Houston - whom I've known for maybe 30 years or so (CRIMINY!). He's gay, and made plenty of the rounds of the gay scene in and around Houston - for many years. He's always been the go-to guy, for me, on who in that neck of the woods is a closeted gay, and because he's been in high-powered charity fundraising circles, he comes into contact with some rawther high-powered people. And just while we were shooting the breeze, katharine harris's name came up. He said she was a problem for the republi-CONS in Florida because she knows too much about certain individuals. I think this was one name he mentioned, but I have no uncertainty about the other name - jebbie. In essence, the story was that little-brother-bush and others in Florida had to hold their noses and tolerate harris, one - because she was owed BIGTIME for 2000, and two - because she knows too much about certain prominent (and closeted) officials. BTW - my friend's been correct about a lot of these, and had jeff gannon pegged back when a few of us were starting to notice him and get curious - and before the whole gay male prostitute stuff came out about him. Also pointed out scott mclellan for the same reason.

Hey - just sayin'...

14. Another source of Jeb's denial of foreknowledge of Foley's pedophilia:
As of 4:27 pm October 4, 2006:

Jeb calls Foley's excuses an attempt for legal cover

Gov. Jeb Bush used his harshest words yet to criticize resigned U.S. Rep. Mark Foley Wednesday, calling his actions "unconscionable'' and saying his revelations that he is an alcoholic and was molested as a young teen and attempt at legal cover.

"My heart goes out to Mark's family,'' Bush said Wednesday. "He's a disgraced public official and the fact that he claims he was abused or is an alcoholic -- there is a reason for what he did, there is no reason. There is no justifiable reason for what he did. And I'm assuming part of that is just to provide some hope of legal protection, which in our country anybody has a right to attempt to do. But it doesn't change anybody's mind. It certainly doesn't change mine. It violated the public's trust and it's just unconscionable."

The governor denied rumors that either his office or the Florida Department of Law Enforcement knew of the allegations against Foley a year ago. "I'm not aware of that," he said. "No."

Earlier today it was:

"If the next governor...is going to have to respond to every blog and every tired little anonymous person who has some bitter part in their soul who wants to express it on the Internet, it’s not going to work," Bush said.
