DUer's need help: Which House races do you wish got more attention...
But isn't getting enough from the media or the national party?

The one thing that strikes me as funny is that everytime we poll a district, even those that DO NOT APPEAR on anyones lists, we find a strong Democratic challenge.

Tom Reynolds and NY-26 comes immediately to mind...

Since we have people here representing districts from across the country, can you guys let me know which districts you think may have a shot at flipping towards the Democrats and are not recieving the proper attention they deserve.

Please state the district in the subject column and an explanation why you feel that we have a shot in this race in the message column.

Thank you.

14. Not sure he is vulnerable...but
Northern Virginia has been turning Blue in recent years, and Feder is the first candidate to run against him in quite somtime worth supporting. I'm not sure she can win, but a good showing by her will aid us in knocking off this particular Republican in two years.

3. Send some "love" to Roger
Roger Sharpe - North Carolina District 5 - running against rubber-stamp Virginia Foxx. Roger may be doing well - but I've seen no polling data. My county - Watauga - is very red, but our Democratic Party is working our fannies off - canvassing, writing letters, etc. Roger may be doing well in Winston-Salem area.

4. Mike Callaghan in WV-2
He's running against Shelley Moore Capito, the other Republican member overseeing the House pages. She was the recipient of the largest chunk of money from Tom Delay, and also received money from Jack Abramoff, though she claims that no favors were exchanged.

5. In CA
Doolittle (R-Abramhoff wacko) and Pombo (R-DeLay wannabe)

Bush was in CA fundraising for Doolittle. Wes Clark came in to rally support for his opponent and rocked the house.

6. Eric Massa- 29th NY
Edited on Wed Oct-04-06 03:38 PM by PATRICK
The cash poor DNC has to overlook things like a great candidate and a relentless climb past parity and mumble things about the high GOP reistration numbers and the magic aura of incumbency(Kuhl-R). The ONLY thing that makes Kuhl competitive is money- his own and lack of resources by Massa simply to let people know who he is.

I suppose there ARE districts in the red nation so rabid they would write in Mark Foley over a Democrat but Dean is more correct in standing by the generally higher quality Dem candidates in every race. The phsyical visits in support of Massa have been great. The spirit is willing but the checking account is weak. It is a crying shame that budgeting resources are fearfully tied up in "safer" races at the expense of a possible nationwide landslide. Massa is a Navy vet and former colleague of Clark, his credentials and persona beyond the scope of this short post to do justice to.

7. FL 24th -- Clint Curtis (D) versus Tom Feeney (R)
I don't know how vulnerable Feeney necessarily is, but this is a very interesting race and important when discussing rigged elections. Essentially, Curtis used to be a republican, but switched over when Feeney asked him for assistance in rigging electronic voting. He's now taking on the man who asked him to cheat. The story is long, but here are some links.

19. Absolutely. The GOP candidate is truly horrifying.
Michelle Bachman makes Mean Jean Schmidt look like Glenda The Good Witch.

Bitter, deceitful, hate-filled bigot.

10. Florida's 13th District... Currently Cruella's....
I'm not crazy about Christine Jennings, but there are rumors that she "could" pull it off. If THIS happens it will be the VERY FIRST TIME I seen a Democratic Representative in this District and I have lived here for more than 25 years!

12. NY-29
Where Randy Kuhl is up against Fighting Dem Eric Massa. Latest polls show this tied. A few more bucks (lkike the check I wrote this afternoon) for Massa and this is another one for us.

***EVERY*** seat counts, not just the ones against the first tier incumbents.

16. Bryan Kennedy in WI-05
First of all, he's running against Jim Sensenbrenner and secondly (like you needed a secondly), Sensenbrenner's approval rating is below 50% with voters in the District. A huge media buy or mailing to get Bryan's name before the voters would be a godsend.

17. Alaska - I posted this on your other thread
but definitely Alaska. We have a really great candidate this year, Diane Benson, that any district in the country would be proud to call their own, running against one of the biggest embarrassments in Congress, Don "Bridges to Nowhere" Young. He's been in Congress since he was appointed in 1972 (after the death of Democrat Nick Begich), and we're all sick of him. Unfortunately, the national party seems to think that she's "noncompetitive" (I suppose given the fact that Young has millions in his campaign war chest -- 80% from corporate interests outside Alaska), and the state party is throwing all their money into the governor's race, so Diane's campaign has been 100 percent grassroots. Even with all the hurdles against her, she is apparently only about 10 points behind Young right now, so we're just trying to get her out into the small towns and villages before election day so she can catch up.

She's so great that even the Republicans are supporting her, once they get to know her. Check her out.

I'm not with the DCCC! I agree that we should challenge A LOT more seats than we currently are!

There are some really good suggestions here...keep 'em coming!

22. Idaho 1st - Larry Grant
His opponent Bill Sali was described as "that idiot" by the Repub Speaker of the Idaho House, and the reasons are too numerous to list. There are many repubs who have said they are voting for Grant, and I have a feeling he may actually take back the seat for Dems. About time, Idaho!
