New Zogby poll on NY26th district: Davis (D) 48%, Reynolds (R) 33%
On the front page of today's Buffalo News. Undecideds are 17%. That's compared to Reynolds 44, Davis 42 a week ago, and Davis 50 Reynolds 42 a few days later. This same district favored Reynolds over another Dem by 75 to 25 just four years ago.

3. I saw Davis interviewed on Hardball last week
He looked so young. This could be one of those situations where the times make the man. What a tremendous opportunity for a young Democrat to make his mark for New York state and the country. Go Davis Go!

8. I think maybe you saw a different Davis....
I believe Jack Davis the one running against Tom Reynolds is 73 years old.

5. Is the dip gonna last? Anyone from around the 26th got an idea?
I'm hoping so...but I have friends and family in Hastert's district in Illinois and they say it looks like he'll weather it unless something bigger gets stuck to him.

10. I'm from the 26th.
I haven't talked to many people here about it, but the district is divided between the more populous north, and the more rural south. I live in the southern part. It's pretty solidly Republican most times, but Davis already had a good showing around here to start with, and I think this thing is going to play around here. It's a pretty quiet area, and nobody who lives here is going to like the idea of reelecting somebody who protected a predator, particularly a gay one. It's not the reputation they would want to have. Some of them might not neccessarily vote for a Democrat, but they'd do the next best thing, which is stay home on election day. Combine that with Davis being a moderate Dem (up until a few years ago he was a self-described "Goldwater Republican," which is basically a moderate-to-conservative Democrat these days) and the strong emphasis on jobs and trade (this area has been hit pretty badly by the loss of manufacturing jobs) I feel fairly confidant now in calling this a pick-up.

6. Good news!
And even better is that real old fashioned lever machines are still used in NY, right?

One down, 220 more to go. Who's next?
