Folks, PLEASE don't stop fighting! We still have FOUR WEEKS to go!
Okay, I know the polls have us in good position.

But we still have four weeks until the election. Things change frequently in four weeks. There are no excuses for inaction during this critical time; you are either PART OF THE PROBLEM or you are PART OF THE SOLUTION. If you truly want the Democratic Party to win up and down the ballot, all of us must do our part.

I requested my absentee ballot on Friday.

I have also done the following recently:

  • Became a precinct delegate;
  • Wrote a couple letters to the editor;
  • Bugged a few people about regoistering to vote (today was the deadline);
  • Got a Granholm/Cherry yard sign;
  • Phone banking;
  • Prepare materials for lit drops;
  • Data entry at the local party office; and
  • Blogged on a couple Michigan-related blogs.

I plan to do more of that later.

What about you?

1. A boxer always knows that you never let up the pressure....
...when your opponent is on the ropes. A boxer continues to pound away until the final count. In this case, the final count will commence in November continue through January and only finish when this illegal, immoral regime is removed force ably from office and its leaders are tried for their crimes and sent to the deepest, dankest hole of a prison.

5. YES, DAMMIT, I'm sure I want to recommend this thread!
Harry Potter fans might well remember the character of Mad-Eye Moody and one of his frequent exhortations to his young students: "CONSTANT VIGILANCE!" You can NEVER let your guard down. Not with Voldemort and his minions, nor with bush and his.

6. I'm kicking this one again.
And talk to people, talk to people, talk to people. WE are the media. We HAVE to be. There aren't enough Keith Olbermanns and Randi Rhodeses to go around.

11. I'm very worried about the western states
I think we'll know the election day trend by 5 pm pst (8pm eastern.) If Dems are winning, then too many won't make the effort to go to the polls. Dems tend to vote late so we need these votes. We can't take the House, the Governorships, or possibly the Senate if we don't get out the vote everywhere. Please help with phone calls and GOTV on election day.

12. Think I'll flyer this (appropriately) 12 Steps to US Political Freedom
Edited on Wed Oct-11-06 01:03 PM by Tigress DEM
12 Steps to US Political Freedom

1 Admit that there is a drunken enraged elephant in the White House.

2 Come to believe in Democracy as a power greater than individuals acting alone.

3 Make a decision to invest in the Democratic process to the best of our ability.

4 Take an honest, yet compassionate look at our nation, as is, and evaluate which
parts are helpful and which will need to be changed to bring US back to the kind of
world leader our Founding Father's legacy of sacrifice demands of US.

5 Embrace Truth and our responsibilties to it, dwell upon truthful thoughts, speak
our Truth to one another and together speak Truth to the powers who obscure it.

6 Brace for the impact of our actions to Take Our Country Back stir up and prepare to
make any changes needed to return US to a solidarity of committment to stand up
for Liberty and Justice for ALL.

7 Humbly ask for help in these endevors, whether it means praying like Romans with
our eyes on fire or simply acknowledging that none of US can accomplish this alone.

8 Make 3 lists. First, people who can be trusted to champion Democracy regardless
of political party dictates. Second, people who have trashed the Constitution and
stripped US of our Civil Liberties. Third, those who must prove to US which list they
will be placed on based on actions.

9 Do 3 things. First, support our champions. Second, impeach or otherwise politically
hold accountable those who have done damage to US. Third, monitor the others and
put the fire under their feet to push them onto the first list whenever possible.

10 Honestly evaluate our daily actions and determine to which list we belong and why.

11 Go within to thoughtfully, soulfully reach our deepest reserves of strength and seek
out what is the right thing for US to do at this time with a faith that the momentum
of all that has gone before will support us in all we do.

12 Having become Democracy in action, rejoice in the process, bring others onto the
path, get out the vote, cast your vote and monitor those counting the votes and
teach others to do the same so Democracy is alive in thought, word and deed for
every successive generation. (short version, lather, rinse, repeat)

13. Link to Volunteer !
http://www.democrats.org/electionday

Four weeks from today, what will you be doing?

On November 7th, America will vote. All the polls say that people have had enough. We're poised to win historic victories up and down the ballot -- but only if we follow through and make it happen.

So we're doing something we've never done before.

We're asking every Democrat who can do so to take the day off from work on Election Day to be part of our 50-State Turnout operation.

If you commit to taking the day off on Tuesday, November 7th, our staff will commit to making sure you have the resources and contacts you need to spend a full day immersed in our democracy.

We're asking now so that you have plenty of time to make arrangements. Whether you're new to politics or a seasoned volunteer, if you can afford to spend all or part of Election Day working to elect Democrats, tell us here:
