Tell me this isn't so...the October surprise from the rethugs...

Is it true that an armada of ships (destroyers, aircraft carriers, etc) from Norfolk, VA have left for the eastern coast of Iran? They are said to arrive 2 weeks BEFORE elections.

Now, can these thugs do this w/o Congressional, UN...not even being consulted? Dennis Kucinich wanted a hearing on Iran, but it was nixed..of course.

I head on RR Show that the Captains of these ships are pretty pissed.

Is this the October surprise? Is this how they plan on "stealing" the election?

4. They were talking about this on NPR Diane Rehm Show this morning.
The consensus was that nothing is going to happen right away, but the fact there's such a build up in the area is ominous.

No doubt Bush thinks he can do whatever he wants because Congress authorized him to use force against the war on terra. I guess that allows him to define war, terra, etc.

If we had a decent Congress, this shit would not be allowed without checks and balances.

That's what I'm hearing on the street here. People have finally gotten the message about these scumbags.

If Stupid tries to start another war, people will NOT rally 'round the flag, boys. People have already realized he's a BUNGLER in 2 wars already. Starting a third will NOT boost his party's ratings.

11. Yes, hopefully the fear factor won't work this time. Also, I was
concerned about these madmen, because that is what they are call in "Martial Law"....no elections...just worried (I'm a worry wart) bec I am so excited about winning.

If we win the House and perhaps the Senate. We can do something about this "saber-rattling," right?

I read history for kicks and I know that no man who has amassed this much power has ever left office peacefully until he is too old to continue or dies in office.

If we win both houses of Congress, Stupid will veto everything that crosses his desk. I think they will have no option but to try to remove him.

9. These ships are part
of the Sixth Fleet. Usually there is a time table that ships and commands rotate out. If we begin to get all hyper about this and the media begins to report this build up then we have given the repugs the "fear factor" once again. I do not concern myself about this deployment.

10. I admit to being slightly paranoid about this, but
I fear suspension of the election and martial law being declared. There is nothing this admin will stop at if they can interfere with our elections.

12. That is exactly how I feel asjr. I don't trust these thugs for good
reason. I don't put anything past them to try to "steal" this election.

I guess I just need reassurance from DUers that this will have NO effect on the elections.

17. I, too, would like some reassurance, but after more than
5 years of this administration I do not know who can give me the reassurance. Little by little stuff comes out about them, but no one seems to do anything. I have lived through WW2, Korea, Vietnam--if Nam had continued I was going to put my son in the car and high tail it for Canada! Now I am afraid for my grandsons.There is no where now to go.

19. They can absolutely do anything the President orders.
We've not had a war legally since WWII. As Commander in Chief, a President can take a police action without consent of Congress.

And yes, this could be the October surprise. Fortunately, I expect a backlash at this transparent attempt.
