I would like to know why there is no more news about the munitions
fires at camp falcon in Baghdad yesterday...If you didn't see it yesterday afternoon then I don't think you will see it...why is no one asking questions to the media about this?? Wolf Blitzer had it on for several hours yesterday and nothing today...

4. 13 straight hours of fireballs, explosions and fire.
That means that yet again, the US forces will be sans their ammo. This happened about 2 yrs ago, when they found themselves staying a lot longer than anyone had planned. They ended up buying 9mm shells for guns from the Israelis, because US suppliers could not provide any more.

Watch for some interesting contracts to be given out, probably no bid, probably very quietly, and probably hiding the fact that our troops now are down to a few days of ammo, with no reserve left.

they will simply blow them up, 1 by 1, you can't overcome a country with bombs and missiles,
we did not win the hearts and minds of the people

Could it be a "News Blackout"? Nothing going on there... move along now... keep moving... nothing to see there... it stinks, though, doesn't it?

Here is a link to an Egyptian "Middle East TImes" article on it - http://www.metimes.com/storyview.php?StoryID=20061011-091715-5967r

6. I cannot imagine that the DOD contracts out something so basic and
so critically important as ammo security, transport and storage. I doubt that they do. This is basic Military strategy 101 - you keep your weapons and ammo safe, yet ready for the troops. If this was such a large depot, this bodes poorly for us in the short term. Once the military starts issuing orders to conserve ammo, then watch the insurgents start major attacks. They know that a major supply depot was erased yesterday. They are not stupid. They will take advantage.

WHY IS THE MSM QUIET ON THIS ISSUE?
Where are those generals who they hire to spew their opinions?

Militia attack ignites U.S. ammo dump in Iraq

By Ross Colvin Wed Oct 11, 9:46 AM ET

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Militiamen firing mortars detonated a U.S. ammunition dump in Baghdad on Tuesday night, sparking a barrage of explosions that continued to shake the capital on Wednesday morning, a U.S. military spokesman said.

Residents said the blasts were reminiscent of the aerial bombardment of Baghdad that preceded the U.S. invasion of
Iraq in 2003.

A mortar round fired from the Abu Dsheer area of southern Baghdad caused the fire in an ammunition holding area in Camp Falcon, a forward operating base for U.S. troops, that ignited tank, artillery and small-arms ammunition, the spokesman said.

"Intelligence indicates that civilians aligned with a militia organization were responsible for last night's mortar attack," said Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Withington, spokesman for the U.S. 4th Infantry Division.

7. Didn't you hear? No more NEGATIVE stories about iraq! Only stories about
building schools or hospitals are allowed.
