Another Bogus GOP Ohio poll - grasping at straws
The latest one from the U of Akron Bliss Institute.
http://www.uakron.edu/bliss/docs/FallPollReportFall2006draft2_2_.pdf

Hard to consider it objective when

It took them six weeks to conduct the poll
Has 10% more men than women in it
Regional breakdowns are skewed
Over 40% of those sampled earn over $72k a year

Nevermind that the most recent Rasmussen poll has Bronw 8 points ahead...

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/2006/State%20Polls/October%202006/OhioSenate.htm

Looks like the GOP is looking to steal some votes in the Brown DeWine race. And right on time we see a couple of lame "bash Sherrod" threads start up on DU.

I dunno, given Browns expanding lead and the momentum in the Dems direction, I'd say stealing the race for DeWine is a lost cause.

2. Survey USA has Brown 10 points ahead
Yet the news media keeps calling it a "tie". Maybe someone needs to explain polling and margin of error to them.

3. Hint: Fundraising must keep going
It isn't whether you win or lose. Is if the money keeps pouring in from all the hacks.

So this poll was designed to help convince the small fry Ohio Republican to keeep sending his chump change in to the GOP candidate.

You guys don't know these people like I do. I DID GOP FUNDRAISING decades ago.

Republican politicos eat their own young. Sick sick people.

7. Sherrod just announced he raised $3million last quarter
The GOP must be seeing donors turn from DeWine to Brown, as they did to strickland when he started showign a double digit lead over Blackwell.

All the bogus polling numbers is a way to keep the money flowing to DeWine instead of switching to Brown.

6. No, but its the new media meme
They're trying to make it seem close, but Brown's margin is actually increasing. Guess that's why the're squawking so loud.

I've seen a few Brown commercials that truly capture Mikey's snivelling Igorness, but not much in the way of yard signs or bumperstickers.

If anyone's gonna be awarded the Diebold gift, it'll be Mikey.

On edit: I'd say I see Strickland stickers over Brown stickers at least 3 to 1.

Edited on Wed Oct-11-06 11:12 PM by blackops
I wanted to go, but came down with a horrible cold that I have yet to shake.

On edit: No disrespect to Sherrod or Luke Perry, but both of them at an event came across as a non sequitur to me. (Cue Scooby Doo "Huh?" from Stephanie Miller.)

8. I just read the whole poll
I don't think it's bad news for Democrats at all. A little light for Brown, but all other polls show him leading by about 5. It also shows Strickland up double digits and Democrats leading in every state government race except for Attorney General.

12. Of course not, its rigged
Which is very good news that the GOP feels so threatened.

GOP has targeted 3 races - Missouri, Ohio and Tennessee, so I'm sure we'll see lots of phony poll results.

15. Let me give you some numbers in those states
* Tennessee = 46% self-identified conservatives
* Missouri = 38% self-identified conservatives
* Ohio = 36% self-identified conservatives

So yeah, we'll see some numbers that aren't blowouts in favor of the more liberal candidate in a statewide race. And it will be so stunning, and obviously phony.

Brown has run a great race but I'll stick with what I've posted for months, that I don't believe the polls giving him a large lead, not running as a liberal in that state. I think it will be an extremely tight race and if Brown wins it will be by no more than 2 or 3%.

16. There lies the problem
Had brown not tried to run as a better fascist than dewine, he could have taken up where paul hackett left off.

He could have shown a real difference between ideology at a time when it is not only accepted but expected.

The difference between the two will be nill at a time in history when difference is needed and even if he lost he could have shown the idiots that someone stood up for that difference and their rejection of it is what lead them to where they end up.

Trying to be more republican than the republicans gets us where exactly? A democrat elected running under conservative cover is not going to change from what it was that got him elected and only costs us a chance to have our voices heard by someone who supports them loudly and proudly.

Give me a progressive with a set of balls and win or loose, he gets the point across that there is a choice.

Mikey's dealings with bushco from the intelligence committee should have provided a wealth of opportunities. Who has been one of the biggest proponents of bushco's ILLEGAL, UNCONSTITUTIONAL WIRETAPPING OF AMERICAN CITIZENS? Mikey.

It was ripe for the taking.

Edit for grammar.

19. The polls giving him a large lead are the reputable ones
are the ones that have the most credibility. Ohio has a very long history of rigged election polling, managed by the conservative news media here. From what I've seen in my research, that's not the same situation in other states.

I will admit there is tremendous pressure from the GOP in this race to make the race closer, more pressure than any other race in the country. Its pretty obvious even on this forum, the GOP is hard at work to get DeWine elected. But the ongoing GOP scandals, poor economy and failure of DeWine to sell himself as a moderate are dooming his race.

The momentum is in Brown's favor, both in fundraising and polling and that usually indicates a winner this close to election day.
