Shays Blasts National GOP: "NRCC has crossed the line"
http://www.tpmcafe.com/blog/electioncentral/2006/oct/14/ct_04_shays_blasts_national_gop_for_anti_farrell_flyer_nrcc_has_crossed_the_line

GOP Rep. Chris Shays lashed out at his own party's national strategists today for sending out a flyer which accused his Dem opponent Diane Farrell of wanting to have "coffee talk with the Taliban." Shays posted a statement on his website slamming the flyer, which was sent out by the NRCC, as "outrageous" and as "garbage," saying that it was "an insult to the intelligence of the Fourth District." He added that the NRCC had "crossed the line." Shays' broadside against his party came a day after Election Central posted the flyer and called Shays' office to inquire whether he viewed the flyer's accusations as acceptable political rhetoric.

NORWALK, Oct 13 - Congressman Christopher Shays (R-CT) issued the following statement about the recent NRCC mailer linking Diane Farrell to a group supportive of having talks with the Taliban:

“Recently, the NRCC sent an outrageous mailer to the homes of Fourth District residents claiming she is supported by a group sympathetic to the Taliban. The NRCC has crossed the line.

“I have always been against these political attack ads, whether they are from the Democrat Party or Republican Party. They are an insult to the intelligence of residents of the Fourth District.

“These ads have to stop. I call on the NRCC to put an end to sending this type of garbage to Fourth District mailboxes.

7. I just had to block your twirling daisy.
Unfortunately, it seems that it also blocked every avatar. Damn. I just wanted to read a page without getting dizzy.

These days, that's like trying to enjoy a ride or a meal out without cellphones.

10. Try opera
it's free now, and you can block individual images.
There's also an option in Firefox to only do an animation once.

2. He Knew They Were Snakes When He Signed On, Sir
It is the 'moderate' Republicans we must make especial efforts to eliminate, and Shays is rightly in the cross-hairs. His crocodile tears in this matter should have no effect, but the campaign materials should serve well to remind people just what Republicans are, and who this "moderate" has tea with every day in Washington....

3. Shays jumped the shark. He said too many hurtful things and is
trying to regroup, with little effect. I used to like him, but after his recent remarks, he's A-#1 idiot.

6. It's a ploy. Allows Shays to triangulate, while drawing...
...broader coverage for the "denounced" hate mailer's message.

NGU.

9. Too late to crawl out of the gutter now
"I know the speaker didn't go over a bridge and leave a young person in the water, and then have a press conference the next day," the embattled Connecticut congressman told The Hartford Courant in remarks published Wednesday.

"Dennis Hastert didn't kill anybody," he added.

Go Cheney yourself Shays.
