Bill Clinton: Entire U.S. government under control of GOP extreme Right
Clinton says Republican extremists divided country
Sun Oct 15, 2006
By Kay Henderson

DES MOINES, Iowa (Reuters) - Former President Bill Clinton told Iowa's Democratic Party faithful on Saturday that the actions of "an extreme sliver" of the Republican Party have backfired and "profoundly divided" the country.

"We've got a big responsibility. Forget about 2008. Forget about the politics. Just go out and find somebody and look them dead in the eye and say 'You know, this is not right'...This is America," Clinton said. "We can do better and this year, it's a job that Democrats have to do alone."

Republicans, who control the White House and Congress, Clinton charged "paint themselves as pure and the rest of us who don't agree with them as stained" in order to divide the country and stay in power.

"People know things are out of whack, that fundamentally the order of, the rhythm of public life and our common life as Americans has been severely disturbed," he said....

***

"You cannot blame the entire Republican party for this reason. The entire government of the United States, the Congress, the White House and increasingly the courts for the last six years has been in the total control not of the Republican party but of the most ideological, the most right wing, the most extreme sliver of the Republican Party."...

2. He's right, you know!
The unfortunate part is there are very few real Pubs left in Gov't. ALL the prominent ones are extremists!

4. You're right - he should name names
and he ought to start right at the heart of the problem - Poppy bush. Just so there's no confusion about which side Bill is on, y'know. There isn't, is there?

5. In five short sentences - he has spoken honestly and profoundly.

This is serious stuff he's saying - this is not just politics. We have a very sick country; it's falterlng and failing in many ways. We can't convince enough people that their vote was stolen and obstructed and TWELVE DEMOCRATIC SENATORS vote for the end of Habeas Corpus. Three of our most precious freedoms have been taken from us - vote, speech, lack of defense of against accusations made by fellow citizens who are manipulating to commit crime and cover up their crimes as wellas paying deference to their politic agenda rather than humanity.

They have absolutely no micro sense of honor for children.

Thanks for posting this and thanks for your selection in what you posted.

7. I Blame the Whole GOP
Because if you are sending them money, or voting for them, you are enabling them! If you are identifying yourself with them, you are culpable for their crimes. And if you are colluding with them, not filibustering, or voting in opposition, or holding up nominees, you are a traitor to this country and all her people. And if you still think bipartisanship is the way to go, you are in need of serious medical care and intervention.

10. Others have been saying this for a long long time.
I am glad he is finally speaking out. He should have done it long ago.

I am glad when he speaks out, but it irritates a lot of people here who know their candidates in 04 were struggling to get the word out while Bill and Hillary remained silent overall, considering their recent WH residency.

It is not that we are not thrilled Bill is finally speaking out, it is that we are being told to be so thankful for it.

It was too long coming. Too many soldiers are dead, too many innocent Iraqis are dead.

12. And another thing...I do blame all Republicans who enabled them.
I blame the play nice Democrats who gave Bush his agenda, and I blame most definitely all the Republicans who cowered in fear and took our country to an illegal invasion built on lies.

It is 5 years too late for those in the know to be standing up...but that said I am very glad they are. Now they all need to wash their hands of the blood of those who trusted them.

15. May I ask an obvious question?
The Bush family is the heart and core of the extremism he speaks about. Rupert Murdoch through FOX news and other outlets he owns here in the US have greatly enabled the Bush Family extreme empire.

Why is Bill (Big Dog) Clinton hanging around with the folks who are either extremists or enablers of extremists?

Did he know Iraq was contained, did he know we had already bombed them nearly back to the stone age through the 90s? Of course he did.

Why did he not speak up?
