what I posted in 2001 eerily prescient...take a look
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Lerkfish/5

I posted this originally at the MacNN forums, and was soundly ridiculed before eventually leaving. nearly EVERYTHING I PREDICTED CAME TRUE.
but I was accused of being insane.

this part of it came true today (or yesterday, actually):

prong two: quell with extreme prejudice the rights of citizens to protest by removing their access to due process, paving the road for political prisoners, like there used to be in South Africa. Sure, now its "suspected" terrorists, but how long until its anyone who disagrees with the administration? without access to legal counsel, the outside world and being held indefinitely and executed without trial, the US will have the ability to "disappear" citizens who are vocally antiadministration, and there won't be any way to prevent it since it will all be done in secret, with no protections.

1. You figured it out in 2001 while most Amurikans yawned as the most

shameful Act in history (?) was signed into law yesterday. I am mindful of Churchill's ringing words about the stain of Nazi tyranny spreading across Europe because now the stain and stench of totalitarian oppression has virulently spread across this nation.

Edited: Added sentence and icon.

6. Yes, they were. That was the ONE and ONLY time bush ever told

the truth after he "took" office. When he said "it'd be a whole lot easier to govern if this was a dictatorship and I was the dictator."

I can remember that plain as day, when he said it, because I can still remember feeling the hair go up on the back of my neck. Didn't know why. Just knew it was bad - a possibly ominous sign. I took it seriously, and then I watched, aghast, in the next several days, as NOTHING came of it. NOBODY in the media took issue with that remark. NOBODY even batted an eye about it. They were so enthralled with him being so folksy and cute and down-home and plain-tawkin' and the I-could-go-have-a-beer-with-him crap. It struck me as a very ominous comment. And NOBODY in the media did SQUAT about it. Didn't even bat an eyelash. That was very early-on. I hadn't found DU yet. But I'll bet people here, then, took note of that and found it as disturbing as I did.

As for Lerkfish's prediction on top - not a bit surprised, frankly. It's spot-on. Makes me almost wish he'd go back to that forum again and reintroduce himself and say "I told you so!" Lerkfish, you're OWED! Glad you saved it. I'd love to see it rammed down their throats.

3. That is quite prescient
but not conspiracy theory, just knowing the mindset of the other side, putting enough of the facts together to see a logical outcome.

What I wish most these dark days is to be wrong. I wish peace would break out and invading Iraq would lead to great things for the Middle East and world, that all the lives lost would not have been lost in vain. I wish that we weren't heading toward fascism (or already there), I wish so many people weren't suffering from poverty and illnesses that we as a nation weren't responsible for due to our war like nature. I'm just tired of being right about the future because it is just so scarey to be seeing it all unfold.
