1. Very poor methodology
They cite John Aldrich, one of the best political scientists in the country, and then pretend like they are debunking everything he says.

The fact is that you only need enough money to get your message out and turn out your voters, beyond that it's just a law of diminishing return.

2. No accounting for real dollars
They say they used data since 1972. A $200,000 advantage in 72 is a hell of a lot different than now ($100-$500K races then, $1-$3 million average now). If a competitor has competative cash he or she can win, he or she does not have to have more.
