Jittery GOPers: The liberals are coming! ( Mehlman sweats in Florida)
Palm Beach Post: Jittery GOPers: The liberals are coming!

By George Bennett
Monday, October 23, 2006

Unfailingly upbeat Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman exuded confidence in the GOP's candidates, message and money and in its finely honed "microtargeting" and turnout operations when he spoke last week to a Republican Jewish Coalition gathering in Boca Raton.

But it was hard to miss the signs that some GOP activists and elites are uneasy as the Nov. 7 elections approach.

On his way into the room, Mehlman was buttonholed by Jupiter activist Donald Jaffin, who told Mehlman the party should start airing 15-second TV spots featuring liberal House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Sens. Harry Reid and Hillary Rodham Clinton and national Dem Chairman Howard Dean to remind voters who will be in power if Republicans lose control of Congress.

State Reps. Ellyn Bogdanoff, R-Fort Lauderdale, and Adam Hasner, R-Delray Beach, mentioned the threat of losing control of Congress to try to motivate the crowd of about 200 before Mehlman spoke.

Hasner, saying the GOP faces a "tough political climate" this year, asked: "How many of you like the sound of Speaker Nancy Pelosi? Or (Ways and Means Committee) Chairman Charlie Rangel?"

When Mehlman fielded audience questions, Joan Hayden of Boca Raton asked the party chief to "please tell me Republicans have something in mind for the next 22 days to turn the tide."

:nopity::nopity::nopity::nopity:
(Couldn't find a circling-the-drain smiley..)

(BTW, the only thing Mehlman might be *exuding* is not to be discussed in polite company.)

Everyone, keep the jet-propelled pressure washers aimed at these people. We just may be cleaning the stinking muck out of the past 12 years of their "contract ON America."

Pour it on.

1. I don't think we should celebrate yet
all of the Rep. hand wringing seems premature and rather unnerving.

They still have a boat load of $, no matter what they say.

4. i just ratchetted up my donations . . .
to dnc (because of dean and because they were matching funds), to ron klein to beat clay shaw here in florida and to jim davis who is running for governor. i will be giving a little more before the election.

everyone should give something! i remember getting into credit trouble when i was young . . . my balances were small but there were too many of them. those little amounts added up to a lot. please give what you can and, if you can't give (or even if you can), please do something.

we have to overwhelm the polling places so the repugs cannot steal our votes without it being obvious. we need everyone there who is eligible. i am hog-tying my cynical mother and getting her to the polls. she is so discouraged by the election fraud that she sees no point in voting. i have told her i won't hear that and that she WILL vote, just as my newly registered boyfriend will.

this may be our only chance for change of this disastrous presidency. i can't take 2 more years.

6. Most Americans couldn't pick Reid or Pelosi in a police lineup
They'll know Hillary, of course, but she isn't running for president.

And they'll remember Dean, but he's not running this year, either.

Sounds like they got seduced by inside baseball & beltway bullshit.
