What will you do if the GOP retains congress?
I know that it's only two weeks away and I also know that a lot of us have already settled with victory. What if we lose? How hurt will you be? Would you care, and keep looking up, would you try to forget about politics and lose interest in it? What will happen if the Democrats don't get back congress this year?

5. What I will NOT do is a what John McCain has said he will do if Dem's win
I will not commit suicide.

We will have to see if the country is ready to stand up and protest. If the republicans win at this point, they will have stolen it.

8. Pretty much what I've been doing since they took over:
Doing my part to see that the opposition is as "disloyal" as the loyal opposition can possibly be.

By 'disloyal', BTW, I mean "patriotic", "honest" and "responsible".

>>>would you try to forget about politics and lose interest in it?>>>

How can one forget about it? It hits you in the face everyday .

What will happen if the Democrats don't get back congress this year?>>>

Short term: evil will proliferate even further.

Long term: The DEMS will get it back next time; or eventually. The good guys always win in the end.

19. Maybe
How are people going to react when he exercises the veto? Won't be able to make any more difference than now. Now we can't get progressive laws out of Congress, assuming that the congress is going to want to get wild and crazy. Gun Bans, higher taxes, alien amnesty will still founder on a veto. You don't really think that any Congressperson from either party is going to really want to lead the charge for higher taxes? Like it or not, most aren't going to want to follow the leaders in a charge for gun bans either. sounds nice but the banners got kicked pretty good the last time.

We can expect a lot of grandstanding but not much of real effective substance.

Come on, most of us will just keep working to see that each successive election gets more and more Democrats in office. We can be vigilant against any election fraud. We can make sure no Republican runs unopposed.

Or we can chuck it all and hide under a rock. :eyes:

14. If it happens, there is going to need to be a complete reevaluation
of our party, our voting system, ourselves (Americans) as a people, because if the Dems can't win a single house of Congress under the present circumstances, then there is something profoundly wrong with a combination of all three.

I would have to reevaluate my relationship both with the Democratic party, and with this country as a whole.

They are doing everything they could to hand it to us. If we don't take it EVERYTHING needs to be reevaluated!!

18. Give up....after taking regular beatings since 1968, I NEED a big win....
Last decent election was 1998, last good one 1992, last excellent one was 1974!

I need an EXCELLENT election night. Should we fail to take either house, I'm really not sure what my reaction would be. Withdrawal mostly. Just deal with my own life and fuck the world.
