Is the moderate middle finally as fed up by GOP Dorks as we are?
Edited on Wed Oct-25-06 02:44 AM by Armstead
That may be the crucial factor this election. The GOP machine will likely drag their "base" kicking and screaming to the polls, scaring them with the thought of an alliance between Nancy Pelosi and Osama bin Laden and the Homosexual Mafia.

And, most likely, the angry liberal base will turn out to counter that.

So it probably boils down to a simple question. Have all those non-ideological, non-partisan folks in the middle finally woken up yet? Are they finally fed up with the crooked, bumbling, destructive, America-weakening, self-righteous, arrogent, corporate toadying GOP CONservative movement?

Are they tired of tolerating their bull feces, after letting it slide for too long?

That, IMHO, is what will ultimately decide this election.

1. It always seems to be up to the fence sitters.
I heard Karl Rove on NPR today, that bastard sounded pretty damn confident about keeping both houses. It put me in a foul mood all night.

2. Do not let that SOB get you down! Let it push us to redouble
our GOTV efforts! I will never forgive this perverted GOP for poisoning our elections to the point where we have to worry about this BS. I never thought I'd miss Nixon! (saw that on a bumper sticker — Amen!)

3. several factors in play
No. 1. moderate independents do have an ideology - it just may not be yours. Up until recently, they felt Bush better represented their ideology on one key issue (as proven time and time again through polls) - national security. And polling in the last two weeks or so have independents with no party loyalty breaking the Democrat's way.

No. 2. Welcome home, Reagan Democrats, as best represented by Jim Webb in VA.

5. At this point it's not about ideology
It's more basic stuff, like incompetence, corruption and extreme overreaching.

6. that may be true. But I was differing with you on your belief that...
... independents in the middle are non-idealogical. They are.

15. That gets into definitions of ideology, I suppose
Frankly, I consider my own ideology as being squarely in the middle, by believing that the correct course is usually a mix of so-called "liberal" and "conservative" principles.

But my belief that truly liberal/progressive values and positions should be on at least an even par with "conservatism" put me on the so-called "leftist fringes" in the current political climate.

4. No, They shut out the news.
I work with people who claim mostly to be democrat.
They are ignorant about all things political.
Family and Little League fill their simple lives.

They are not motivated. They are not angry. They are not excited to takeback congress.

I fear they only vote every 4 years, if that much.
These people WILL vote straight democrat, but GETTING them out to vote is the issue!

Turnout is everything! Polls mean nothing if people won't vote!

who would even think of voting for Santorum, Allen and the like be called a moderate? To me there are no moderates, only misguided voters.

14. I think you misunderstand me...
Anyone who would vote for Santorum cannot be a moderate. They're either misguided or nuts!! You say moderates are voting for Casey, Webb, and Ford, and you are correct. My point is that I can't see a moderate voting for the likes of Santorum.

16. This is an example ...
EVERY piece of evidence here in PA seems to indicate that the moderates/independents will not support Santorum ... He has NEVER broke past the 40 percent mark in the last year in polling, not once that I have seen ... I deal with both sides, and the center/right republcians will take a bullet for the lunatic, but even some center/moderate republicans are not ready to stand by him now ...

He has his "base" and that is it ...

IF this freak wins this election, it was stolen ...
