Stephen King - Nothing I write is as scary as the GOP

My Book About A Really Mean Car That Kills People Was Pretty Scary. But Not As Scary As Those Scary Republicans
Contributed by Holly Bailey - Posted: October 24, 2006 3:32:32 PM

We know Stephen King can be frightening--but can he boost voter turnout? Yesterday the horror writer sent an email to supporters of MoveOn.org, in which he asked for their participation in a series of get-out-the-vote parties the liberal group has organized on behalf of Democrats this weekend. "If I know anything, I know scary. And giving this president and this out-of-control Congress two more years to screw up our future is downright terrifying," King wrote. "Thankfully, this national nightmare is one we can end."

1. I don't know that it'll make any difference
but I'm still very appreciative of folks with "names" who are pitching in to pitch them out.

6. I can't recommend this enough!
stevie king has given me SO much insight into America, life, the universe, love, and so much more. he is more than a writer to me, he is a whole damn philosophy.
over the last 6 years, ever since the chimp got elected, i was looking for stevie king's views on the direction his country has taken. in 2002 i read that king likes to listen to rush dumbaugh, and that kinda set me back. i wrote to his official website, asking what king's political views were. i could not believe a dude who wrote the things he wrote to be a rightwingnut.
he's not. and i continue to hero-worship stevie king.

7. Think about it ...

A writer of horror -- a person whose stories all, in way way or another, revolve around the concept of people having a cloud placed in front of their eyes that prevents them from seeing the truth, a cloud they eventually come to accept as normal and will fight to the detriment of their own souls to keep present -- likes listening to Rush. I have no idea if that is even true, but if it were, it wouldn't surprise me. Writers seek inspiration by observation of the world around them. Rush and his denizens are an object lesson in willful ignorance drawn from the real world that King's stories explore.

Or to put it another way, I would not be surprised in the least to learn that Rush's real name is Robert Gray, Bob Gray, otherwise known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. And he has his followers, all of whom should be locked up at Juniper Hill.
