Loudoun Times Mirror Endorses Webb, citing his "courage [and] integrity"

The stakes remain high in the Virginia Senate tussle as Election Day approaches, and Sen. George Allen's numerous gaffes and record prove the time is right for a change.

snip

Democratic challenger Jim Webb offers independent thinking, dogged determination and a wealth of military experience. He's a decorated Vietnam veteran, and his patriotism and loyalty should never be in doubt.

snip

There are other vast differences between the candidates, ranging from taxes to the economy. However, Webb stands out because of his willingness to stand up for the little guy.

snip

We like Webb's watchdog approach and moderate policies. He'll fight for what is right for his country, not just his party. His experience as Secretary of the Navy in the Reagan administration bodes well in today's changing world

Pls read the entire endorsement. Loudoun County is the FASTEST growing county in VA, and I think the entire country.

2. This is a very important endorsement.
Loudoun is one of the richest, biggest and fastest-growing counties in the nation. Its exurb status should put it squarely in the Rethug's pockets, according to conventional wisdom. But it went for Kerry and for Tim Kaine. I hope it continues to go blue!

5. yes--I just saw one that Mark Warner did for him--excellent!
Very positive in describing why people should support Webb (from Southwest VA, military service, served as Reagan Navy official, wants to move not to left or right but forward (remember DUers, this is VA); son now in Iraq. Warner did the voice over and talks on camera at the end--and he was a very popular governor. I think this ad will be very appealing in most parts of VA. I only wish it had been shown for the past month.

Felix Jr.'s ads are disgusting--full of lies.

4. I live in Loudon once very Repuke
But the stereotype of rich yuppies voting Repuke is getting bucked a good bit by folks from Dem states moving in or Democratic Southerners moving to the jobs.

In a sense its the old money and unfortunately a lot of the poor white folks still voting Republican while the new folks are voting Dem.

I hope we can pull this out. They just changed my polling place at the last minute and that has got me flustered but my boss is pretty forgiving if I get lost to go vote.

:)
