Now let's make them actually do the fucking work!
There has been way too much talk about whether or not the Dems should just concentrate on solving problems or pursuing investigations or even possible impeachment.

"Doing good things" and holding the administration accountable for the crimes it has either committed itself or allowed to be committed in its name are not mutually exclusive. The Dems can, and should, do both.

Of course, it might require working more than 2 days a week, for more than 100 days a year.

How about this - a Congressman's vote should be tied to his attendance. Perfect attendance? Vote counts as 1.0 votes in all Senate or House business (committees and general votes on legislation in sessions).

Miss 25% of your obligations? Your vote is only 0.75 votes.

Miss half of your meetings? Half a vote.

This would put some pressure on these clowns to actually show up and do their jobs, instead of just meeting with lobbyists and the money men. Who knows - they might actually learn something about the laws they are passing. And what lobbyist is going to want to waste their time on a congressman who only has half a vote? This could be all good.

How about if they had to punch a time clock, or swipe an ID badge at every committe meeting and house session? I like the idea of an optical scanner to prove their identity, and the scanner would be mounted a little too low on the wall, so they'd have to bend down into an uncomfortable position to be logged into work. We could even have scanners all over the building to track their movements - for "security" purposes. Strictly for their own protection, of course. They can still pretend that they're "little princes and princesses" but the free ride is over. Show up and do real work.

Since they'll no longer be able to use their public time on the clock to raise money for their campaigns, their attendance record can also plug into the formula to see how much federal campaign money that they are able to receive in the next publically-financed election.

Here's a part I really like. Their attendance determines their pensions. And their other solid-gold benefits.

How about breaking a sweat every once in a while? How's that for real middle-class "values?"

2. Start with publicly funded elections,
so they can spend their time doing the job instead of raising money to run again. It would also help true-up our representative government, which is currently somewhere like 90% millionaires. :eyes:
