Hilary- Obama- recipe for a diaster
The repubs are licking their chops to run against either of these possible candidates. My best friend is probably closest to a liberterian. We both agreed on the war before it ever started(Stay out). He is very well read and he thinks Hilary would be political suicide. My wife is from Illinois and also a good baromeeter. She always asks the pertinent question and her's is(regarding Obama)"what has he done?" . If we run either of these two bye bye presidency

1. Nonsense
Hillary Clinton will be a very strong campaigner who can get the Independents to vote for her, especially with Bill Clinton in tow calling for a Balanced Budget amendment, Student Loan credits, senior citizen initiatives, saving Social Security, etc.

If Obama is asked to serve as Vice President, I would imagine it would be lights out for the GOP.

a shit magnet. At least she has had about 16 years to ready for the attacks and I doubt she'd take them lightly. Obama has done nothing? Well, he's been in the public eye a helluva lot over the last 4 years, written a book of merit, been influential in the Senate. To compare and contrast, what had Bush** ever done that merited a run at the TOP job? Several failed business ventures, stole land to enrich himself and partners to build a ballpark for the team that traded Sammy Sosa, had run ins with the law, a failed commitment to the TANG and was Gov in a state where the Lt Gov had all the power.

Clinton/Obama isn't my ticket but it looks pretty damn good compared to what we've had.

welcome to DU.

:hi:

4. you use bush as a comparison
Hopefully America will not elect someone as dumb or as ill equipped to be President again. Two issues working here. Whether we want to admit it or not do you not think Hilary carries a ton of package. My wife is alot like Hilary. A really smart Chicago women. Hilary is just to unlikable. I have been in sales for twenty years and when things are equal they buy from the person they like and trust. I don't Hilary has those qualities. As far as Barack, America is not ready for a black president. There was a poll in Tennessee that reported that 13% of Tennesseans would not vote for a black man. I suspect that it isn't much different in many parts of the country. 13% is too difficult to overcome.

5. of course America is ready for an African American president
The Rethugs would stumble all over themselves to vote for Condi as they would Powell. They only let their racism show when it conflicts with their political theology. Hillary, which has two lls, I've already addressed. Her "unknowns" are known so we as a party could counter the attacks.

3. I Am Confident Neither One Will be the Nominee
When Democratic primary voters became convinced Dean was unelectable, his support fell off a cliff. This is much more true of Clinton and Obama.

In any case, this is the new Democratic party. I suspect the next nominee will be a governor or someone else from outside the Beltway. And I suspect that the nominee still might not be on the national radar.

6. As I've said before...
Hillary may be pragmatic and slowly worm her way into the presidency by endorsing Clark and becoming his VP. Clark and the Clinton's are almost as close as you get.

8. Thank You
We need the Republican talking points. And you have done well. My barber who is a great barometer said, what did Bush ever do. Hell, what did Clinton ever do.

And guess what, they said the same thing about Lincoln, not that I was there.

So here is an idea, let's have a primary, let everyone run and see who wins.

Or are we going to decide in 2006 and just annoit a king.

BTW. Before judging Obama, maybe you should have lived in Illinois and saw him massacre a Religious nut job. If Kerry would have performed like Obama, we would not be in this mess.

Tell Mary Matalin hi.
