What type of candidate is most likely to resonate with voters in 08'?

6. I have several in mind.
Edited on Sun Nov-26-06 06:59 PM by William769
One happens to be a General, one a Governor, one a Senator and a couple that are not any of these that I might consider.. But for me it's to early to get behind one candidate.

On edit: Please don't try to insult my intelligence.

9. Sorry for any offense.

I meant it in jest. Unfortuantely that is hard to get across when typing.

They mayor was just the first one that came to my mind that is none of the above; I did not mean to imply I was assuming you supported said mayor.

4. 2 senators have been elected president in the last 100 years
and neither one defeated a sitting president. In comparison in the last few elections, we have had 3 governors (Carter, Reagan and Clinton) defeat sitting presidents. Senators have a lot of baggage that has made them harder to elect. There is no harm in accepting this fact before we nominate someone.

12. I voted for a governor
Generals usually only get elected after a big war, and senators have a miserable track record. No President elected straight from the Senate in the last 100+ years has survived their first term in office.

5. D. A newcomer!
So would that be a choice to be named later? Or are we committed to naming our candidate 23 months before the election? We found out the hard way what happened when we held our nominating convention a mere month and a half before the opposition last time. I will reserve judgment until the very last possible moment and make the candidates work for my vote, promising it to no one, preferring to see someone actually earn it.

I am pleased some many have found people they can wholeheartedly endorse so early. It will make for an interesting election cycle.

8. General Clark in a heartbeat
The republican party gave us a first lieutenant who ran when the shadow of a drug test blocked his path; a first lieutenant who lacked professionalism, wisdom, honesty, integrity. A first lieutenant who only had daddy; who only knows how to die; who doesn't give a fuck where the buck stops.

I'll take the best four star officer our country has produced in 60 years and raise ya whichever gungho senator wants to jump on a winning bandwagon.

23. Precisely
Simple things would be nice - The ability to construct and think in complete sentences, Showing up for work more than taking vacations/fund raising drives, gathering a complete set of data before making decisions (rather than the opposite). Doesn't need to be inspirational (that however, would be very, very nice), just do the job that he or she was hired to do (protect the Constitution and manage the executive branch).
