McCain taps guy behind racist Harold Ford ads as campaign manager
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) continues to recruit top GOP political operatives in expectation of a presidential run. According to a source close to the McCain operation, the candidate has lined up Terry Nelson to serve as campaign manager (if a formal bid is announced), and Republican National Committee Communications Director Brian Jones has committed to lead the press effort for a national bid.

Nelson, who served as national political director for President Bush's 2004 reelection campaign, joined McCain's Straight Talk America political action committee in March.

"I'm honored to have Terry's leadership and management expertise as we move forward through this process," said McCain of Nelson. "I know, if we decide to take the next step, the day-to-day management of the campaign will be in capable hands."

1. Heard that on Countdown
Yea, i saw that on Countdown tonight. it is a real shame. I used to like this turkey. Now he jsut seems to get worse and worse. I ACTUALLY thought about a year ago that I would vote for him, a republican if he ran against Hillary(dont like hillary for the same reason). Now though, I cant stand him and I am not surprised by this move.

4. I donated to McCain when he ran against W
W kicked the hell out of the McCain family, and John ended up hugging his abuser. I have no use for any of the GOP trash. Including his hiring a subtle racist.

14. I supported McCain in 2000 also...
This is not that same McCain today. Dirty politics is one thing, but Rove went after his FAMILY, and McCain rolled over like a squirrely dog and let them get away with that.

I had pegged him long before 2000....and tried to tell people he was not to be trusted. I am relieve to see many now agree...I just hope the love affair with this rethug is finally ending...I have waited a long time to say this......

10. Use to have some respect for the guy,
but he has been pulled into the neocon vortex. Here in TN we have so many backward people, so the Corker "call me" ad was effective.
Is AZ as backward?
Suppose spin & sleaze can twist any subject.
I think America has noticed how he is siding up to Bush more now than ever & they don't like it. Hope he flops.

I would run these pics as full-page ads in every newspaper in the country with the headline FOUR MORE YEARS?

7. An excellent suggestion!
I agree wholeheartedly. I have no respect for Mr. McCain and anybody who believes he would be good for our country needs to remember how he licked Dumbya's boots for years.

8. Well, let's see the cake was
when the USA was losing a major American city. I guess they were celebrating while the rest of us were glued to the tv watching people begging for help.

3. McCain looks really old and sick in that photo (the photo is backwards)
The only reason Reagan could get elected at 69 was because his hair hadn't gone gray and he could still utter some one-liners.

McCain looks even older than 70, and I wonder why the photograph was flipped backwards (look at the plane lettering). Are they really trying to hide one side of his face?

9. You can bet McCain't will let the dirty campaign run...
Pulling out the Keating 5 rap on him would be one way of cutting him off at the knees.

11. McCain thinks he needs to play dirty as Chimpy did it to him in 2000 and beat him
Edited on Fri Dec-08-06 01:26 AM by Jennicut
But it is sad to see he has to take the low road and hiring Terry Neslon as his campaign manager is REALLY taking the low road. Is it me or does McCain look like he has some kind or weird growth/lump on one side of his face? I think its a tumor that keeps growing back or something like that. Real healthy looking there John. By the way, I think we all need to come up with a nickname for McCain. My contribution is Lumpy McLoser. McCain't is a great one too!
