Bull or Bullshit?
Is the Democratic Congress going to charge ahead with strong Ethics Reform?

Or will we get bullshit legislation, which lets Congressmen fly to Scotland to play golf as a bribe from fake charities?

Democrats are deciding NOW between these two options. Please email this message to your Congressperson and Senators:

Please ban privately-paid trips for members of Congress.

Do not make exceptions for trips paid for by lobbyists, educational groups, and charities. All three of those groups are seeking to influence legislation when they offer to pay for Congressional travel.

All travel by a member of Congress should be paid for by the public or by the member personally. Letting the public pay for important trips prevents conflicts-of-interest.

1. Democrats are deciding now....
...whether to give us real Ethics Reform or loopholes, because it's on the agenda for Nancy Pelosi's "first 100 hours."

Democrats will have written the bill by January, and so contact Congress now and say "no trips paid for by lobbyists, by charities, or by educational organizations:"

Contact Congress

3. This is part of the 100 hours.
We need to contact Congress now. In January, they will be voting on whatever they already wrote.

7. My feeling is that a lot of the brand NEW Congress people want reform.
They ran on reform and a lot of the ones that I supported seemed very very idealistic. I appreciated that.

I have a feeling, however, that the old-guard will give these new members some trouble. :banghead:

8. Yes, the bill introduced by Nancy Pelosi...
...on February 1, 2006 is full of loopholes.

She's the Speaker, not the new Congresspersons.

I wrote about HR 4682 here:
