1. If she was so serious about this, why did she wait until she was out the door?

2. Because she's thinking downstream. And getting a good last headline.
She'll try to get her seat back in two years, like she did before, and if, in the meantime, investigations and subpoenaed witnesses develop a case for impeachment, she'll be able to say "Ah-HA!!! You SEE? You SEEEEE? <<<<I>>>>> was AHEAD of the curve on this issue!!!!"

13. Well, certainly. She's not hiding behind a bush in the garden, and never has.
Bush perhaps being an unfortunate word choice....!

Politics IS self-promotion. You sell yourself, and you sell your ideas. She knows that she has a following based on her larger-than-life personality and her ideas. She also has no small number of detractors. But you know what they say about publicity--any is good, so long as that name is spelled right.

I don't think she's done yet. If she can avoid any legal entanglements in the next two years, I sense she'll be back. She totally deserved to lose, though--she didn't even bother to show up to campaign in her primary, and she disrespected her base. She's gotta go apologize, make nice, and give them a reason to vote for her again. Maybe they will forgive her (they did it once already) and maybe they won't.

It will also depend on how her successor does. If he does really well, she'll be shut out, but if he screws up or is inattentive to his constituency, they'll go after him for his screw-ups, his religion (he's a Buddhist), you name it. The guy isn't stupid by any stretch, though, so she might have trouble.

I don't think she's finished her doctoral (UC Berkeley) work, so she can take the time she's got now to complete her dissertation.

3. She didn't. If I recall correctly, she also introduced articles during...
...Bush/Cheney**'s first term.

4. No, according to an article the other day, she said she was thinking of doing
that, but didn't.

11. Maybe that's what I recall. At any rate, it only helps shift the envelope...
...toward IMPEACHMENT. So I can't fault her for doing it now versus any other time. It sure helps build the growing chorus.

12. I don't think it does a thing toward impeachment. It does, however, get
people talking about Cynthia McKinney here.

8. I don't think you recall correctly
I just searched and found no evidence that mckinney ever introduced articles of impeachment against chimpy prior to yesterday. So its a fair question: why didn't she do so earlier, like during her primary campaign? Maybe she didn't think it was a good move politically?

What she did, imo, was simply a self-aggrandizing move that actually harms impeachment cause by trivializing it and making it less likely that more responsible legislators will want to be associated with the effort. Introducing a bill on your way out the door -- a bill that expires hour after being introduced -- is actually a pretty cowardly move.

7. I believe Rense is not considered a reliable source here at DU. Please find
another link.

10. BTW, that source is also not used here. And in the article, she mentioned the
word "impeachment" on the floor, but did not start articles of impeachment.
