1. Here's a great place to start:

This campaign is about taking action now to change America. Join One Corps today to participate in our National Day of Action on January 27th, and to work with others who believe that together we can offer a helping hand, lift up our fellow citizens, and build the One America we all believe in...

5. Yup. In the big picture, it's not that far away.
People deeply involved in the campaigns and potential campaigns have been thinking about 2008 for a long while, so why not us?

Furthermore, the decision on a candidate in a lot of ways reflects the decision as to where we want to take the party. The path the party is taking is always a relevant topic for discussion.

Additionally, Congress is in recess. Since our buddies in D.C. aren't really doing much right now, it leaves a bit of a vaccum for things to discuss. Once they're back on the job, we'll see a lot more discussion of what's currently happening.

3. You want to help out? Habitat for Humanity, America's Second Harvest, Operation Blessing,
Feed the Children, Oxfam,National Relief Charities, Action Against Hunger to name a few organizations that could use a contribution or even a few volunteers.

4. It's something that requires a major overhaul
I use to work in social services. It is a large, overloaded and stupid system.
It needs to be steamlined, moderized and focus on the pragmatic. Transportation, babysitting and grants for college. It needs to help with the basics. The roadblocks to getting out is unbelievable. And the system that is to help is broken. We need to work to rehaul the whole thing and make the government look to running programs effiecently.

6. The election itself is in about 2 years, but the primaries start in just
over a year. I don't think helping out those in need means not being able to talk about 2008.
