Anyone find it disappointing Bill Clinton was a no-show at the James Brown Apollo showing
or would have it appeared the wrong thing to do?? I say Bill suddenly forgot about his respect/friendship with the black people.

2. So you choose to speak for Bill Clinton ? Interesting
How's your ego? The Appolo is only a few blocks from Clinton Harlem offices.

3. And if he had gone...
He would have had to deal with no end of criticism for that.

I don't think his non-attendance amounts to a hill of beans.

4. He may have been out of the country or
had been tied up with something big. don't know. I think he needs to attend Ford's funeral. It would have been nice for him to go to Brown's but, maybe he didn't think about it.
or is too busy looking for ways to destroy the other dems so Hillary and him can live in the big house again.
Which I so hope they don't. I'd rather it be the Obamas there. but, that's my opinion and for a different posting.

5. Um, I think Bill was a little too tired to attend since he spent all
day at the state funeral for Ford.

I don't begrudge him for missing it. Clinton hasn't had the best of health in recent years and probably tires easier than he used to.

Heck, I'm only pregnant - a situation millions of women find themselves in - and I was exhaused after just three hours at my step-father's mother's funeral tonight. I can't imagine being in my 60s, having suffered heart problems and attending a day-long state service.

7. Was he at the funeral of Ford's ?
I did not see him in the shots of it. I thought he was going to be there on tuesday for the big funeral. this was for the congress.

8. Kind of a big rush to judgment, no?
Bill Clinton is arguably the leading figure in raising awareness and money to combat AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa, is he not? Real enemy of black people around the world, he is.
And have you considered that there's perhaps a legitimate reason he was a no-show?

12. It's a legit question
Imagevision has a legit question about this. I don't think people have to get bent out of shape.
We all love Bill. He was a good president. But, if someone wants to ask something or thinks he did something disrespectful, ect. they have a right to question.
I don't think being angry about it is helpful.

19. I'll have to disagree here
For the record, I love James Brown so this has absolutely nothing to do with my personal preference.
James Brown WAS an awesome entertainer, without a doubt.
However, why is Clinton expected to attend his funeral?
How many funerals of other entertainers has he attended in the last year?
Somehow I don't see this as a snub.

26. I can imagine what Clinton bashers would be saying right now if the Clintons had cut short
their vacation to rush back to attend James Brown's funeral!

How craven!
There they go again stealing the spotlight!
Who do they think they're fooling? They don't even KNOW James Brown!
Shameless pandering!

Since when does Bill Clinton have to attend the funeral of every famous black person in order to prove his respect/friendship with black people?

31. Lots of people were no-shows in my estimation
From Mick Jaggar to Usher to Whitney Houston to Rod Stewart. Why single out Bill?

I got the impression James Brown wanted his funeral to be as real as he was and only true friends, and of course the fans, were invited.

32. Why doesn't anyone else see the elephant in the room?
James Brown was a drug addict and a wife beater. Why on earth is everyone in the world supposed to respect and worship this man? I sure wouldn't want him to be a role model for my kids.
