Vacation done, celebration is overwith - time to get back to work
Honestly, I really didn't think a whole lot about politics after our great victories in Nov 2006. We all worked hard and personally felt we all deserved a break. Clearly a few compromises were made to help us get the majority including playing ball with Lieberman and running a few moderate candidates that appealed more to rural voters in the country.

Now it's time to sharpen our pencils, stretch out our dialing fingers and bone up on our typing skills. Without a doubt I expect the democrats to fail us, probably many times over, these next two years. Just because we have the majority doesn't mean we have clear sailing - bills need to be signed by Bush and I have a feeling Bush is going to be a bit more liberal when it comes to using Veto power. Not like he has a re-election in 2008.

But I'm hoping for those heartaches we receive in return we get many great victories. I think the first will be the raise in minimum wage, which will help millions of working-class families who are struggling to get by on $5.15/hour. It's about time the also get a pay raise, especially since they all worked much harder than the members of the 109th Congress. I'm also glad that we only have 11 men & women to persuade when it comes to activist judges instead of the entire senate. Looking at the members in the Judiciary Committee gives me hope that we'll keep the Sam Alito's off the benches - positions that are lifetime, dragging out the Bush Regime possibly for decades to come.

So I'm ready to get back to work - who is with me?

1. I'm in!
Good overview, BTW.

Junior will sign the minimum wage hike, I believe. We need to pass good legislation regardless of the chances of it getting vetoed. After Junior blocks passage of a bill or two it should clear things up for some people who actually think Republicans care about the interests of people other than the wealthiest 1%.

I'm in a good position to help some in the Senate, I think. My 2 Senators, Byrd and Rockefeller, chair the Appropriations and Intelligence committees and they pay more attention to you if you are a constituent.

2. It's great....
That LyneSin is ready to power us forward..... But I think the focus needs to be on the New Congress...we need to keep the pressure on THEM. They must be made to understand that our loyalty is to our NATION not to our PARTY... and that we expect to see results..... in Iraq, as well as the progressive social and economic agendas here at home.... so Lyne, if your pencil can keep 'em honest, we are with ya. Go get 'em.
