Where are they now: James Baker's ISG?
Is anyone here old enough to remember when a blue-ribbon panel of Beltway insiders studied the Iraq War, even visiting the place, and then wrote the gentlest possible recommendation on how to start winding it down?

They were even deferential enough to hold the results (while more Americans died in vain) until after the mid-term election and to recommend an ultra-slow pullout (while more Americans die in vain), to give the neo-cons time to ease themselves onto the fainting couch.

Is it too much to ask that just one of those eminent eminences stand up, now that Bush is escalating this misbegotten war, and shout "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore"?

I suppose it is....

Hey, the liberal light is always on at the Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy. Please stop by and say "hi!"
