Congratulations DLC hawks on Saddam hangings 2nd victim - a 10 year old Texas boy

I recall the threads here defending Saddam's hanging and the corporate media's grisly, sensational coverage of it. They compared Hussein to Hitler for gassing the Kurds. Of course, Hitler didn't have Reagan, Rumsfeld etc. lifting arms embargos so that he could kill people



Now Saddam's execution has claimed another victim, a ten year old boy in Texas who saw Saddam hung on TV, and decided to imitate the hanging on himself.

"I don’t think he thought it was real" said Julio Gustavo, Sergio’s uncle.



The people I know who watch the news or read the press usually read or watch the US press. If that is all you do, you probably aren't aware of the opinions that are being expressed around the world regarding this. Even Tony Blair kind of backed away from it.

The one thing I would agree with the pro-execution people here is that the execution embodies American values. I agree that it does 100%.

Let me go out on a limb and say parents need to monitor what their kids have access to an TV - that is one problem.


We used to see nooses in the cowboy movies when I was a kid and it would have the same affect. I bet kids back then tried the same thing unfortunately.

What one feels regarding the execution and how it was carried out is not a direct cause of this child's tragic death.


Oh.. and Hitler did have a bit of help from the BFEE - learn all your facts before you make a claim to something.

I would not have executed him as I am against the death penalty in all cases..

I mean, did Saddam deserve to be executed? Yes. Did we need to be subjected to a hanging video and pictures? No. In the end, like everything in Iraq, they couldnt get it right.

And so full of the purity of black and white righteousness.

Is it Saddam's hanging you're against, or the media that showed the picture, or the horror that a child could not be shielded from the bad result of doing a stupid thing? Most of us survive the stupid things we do as children, but not all.

Perhaps you want a total V-chip, no news, no anything to filter to our children. Just lots of singing and dancing all day long.

I don't give a damn that Saddam was hanged. Actually, I'm still pissed that he was deposed. I'd prefer it if he was still in power killing Shia as his mood moved him. The people who murdered him have some damn good reasons for hating his guts. So?

We made a martyr who can be worshipped by all those who hate our guts for the horrible things we've done to them. That was truly stupid. Hopefully, unlike that foolish little boy, we'll survive it.

"Hang 'em High" has a much more vivid hanging scene than anything shown on Saddam and can be seen most anytime between cable and satellite. Looks like any hanging, no matter the reason or circumstance, will be blamed on coverage of Saddam for a while.
