How about a few simple questions for Mr. Bush.
Mr. Bush, exactly when did you report for duty in Alabama and how long were you there?

Forget pay stubs and honorable discharges. Let's ask the questions and watch him lie.

And, by the way, nobody, I mean nobody, who was anyway involved in the military during the Vietnam War has forgotten where they were and when.

So, enough of the subtlies... ask that damn question, let him answer it. If he says he can't remember, give him a few days to refresh his memory.

Just ask him directly. It's not up to us to cobble together pay stubs. Just a straight answer, Mr. President.

I know exactly where I was during that time and I'm his age. Ask me and I'll tell you. Ask me for proof and I'll find it and give it to you.

Let's cut the crap on this. Just ask him and get an answer. The longer this game of 20 questions goes on, the more likely he is to wear everybody down.

Mr. Bush, if you have nothing to hide, you will answer the question, directly.

1. Bush's response
"I was either in a drunken stupor or, in a cocaine induced coma"!

3. i'd be damned if i had to answer any question about where i was during any
month, 30 yrs ago. i mean really....i'd be hard pressed to say where i was, at any given time during the whole freakin decade. and i wasn't into cocaine.

i've read LB and the other thread and i can't tell....do we have him or not? is this "proof" onclusive or what?

5. Bear, if you were reporting for duty, believe me,
you would remember. Do we have him or not? We don't have him as long as we pussy foot around the subject. Russert basically said, Mr. President, give us a bunch of sh*t records and let us make sense of them. Easy out! Notice that Russert didn't ask the direct question... where were you? how long were you there? My guess is that he checked in and then disappeared. That is why the question "how long were you there" is so very important. My antenna went up when he said he had been honorably discharged but did not answer the basic question about his service. I'm a mother, I KNOW evasion and this is it.

11. I remember a lot during that time
and I was not reporting for duty. I had friends who were scared that served. I remember when they started drafting - I remember Kent State.

I think you are correct - he checked in and bolted. Let's ask him who some of his service buddies were.

6. I watched the press conference with my husband
He was in the Navy Reserves at about the same time that Bush was in the ANG.

He has tons of people he could call who would verify that he went to his weekends. He has pictures and stories of his 2 weeks away every year. He remembers places, if not dates. He also said missions were conducted during those weekends and records should be available detailing who was on the missions and he said he assumes the ANG kept the same records.

He also said every day he reported for duty they had muster. The Navy took great care to determine who was there every day.

"The President recalls reporting" is bullshit. Why can't they come up with one person who served with him who remembers him being there? Where are the plane captains, or whatever the AF calls them, who strapped W into his airplane before his flights? Oh yeah, they grounded him after he refused a physical. But where are all his military buddies?

This smells, Raven You're right to ask these questions.

10. I figured that. That's why
Bush should be asked the question. If your guy said that he was there and someone came forward and said he had never seen him, that's good stuff. Right now, Bush is inviting us to comb fuzzy records.

9. Hi MaineDem!
I learned one thing as a mother... or , I should say, I taught one thing as a mother... if you screw up you're a bad boy... if you lie to me...you're a lost soul. This guy can't lie about this because he will be caught. He has to slide around it and he is doing just that with the help of Russert el al. The question is as simple to answer as you describe. He must be made to answer it... simply.
