Did you miss this one?
Caught a clip this morning on MSNBC, showing Gates making statements in the hearings today. Here's the gist of it, if you missed it..

He was asked if the plan failed in Iraq, would the consequences be, for the troops to be removed. His response was that... 'NO', they would just go to plan 'B'. The troops will stay regardless and also..it is felt that the word 'consequences' is off the table. They will simply just 'try harder' for a next attempt.

Summary: When * stated in his speech that if the plan were to fail, the American people would lose faith in the Iraqis, as would the Iraqi people. I wondered then, does that mean failure brings the troops home, as this is SUPPOSED to be a last ditch effort.. but the wording sounded a bit funny to me. Unfortunately I was right to suspect that it was just a carefully worded statement, to make people think, failure would result in withdrawel.. FORGET IT!

Far as I can see, we will be there until the swamp gets drained and the area defumigated..

1. Iraq is a jumping off point
The Caspian Basin and all of the oil it contains is the long-term goal.

5. Gates better check with Bush. There is no Plan B.
The only plan Bush has is to let the next president handle the pile of shit he has shoveled.
