The only thing dumber than the White House blasting Barbara Boxer...
Edited on Fri Jan-12-07 04:29 PM by Bicoastal
....for being insensitive to the plight of single working women?

It's FOX devoting the main screen of their website, not to mention all of their programming time today, to ranting how Democrats are weak on "feminist issues" (!) Oh please! Yesterday, someone like Hannity wouldn't be able to SAY the word "feminism" without gagging.

Notice that no other major news outlet has given this non-story any attention at all. The GOP and their media propaganda pals are all so desperate right now, it's almost funny.

4. Both!
"Well, at the time I just found it a bit confusing frankly. But in retrospect, gee, I thought single women had come further than that. That the only question is are you making good decisions because you have kids?"--Conid Rice

"I don't know if she was intentionally that tacky, but I do think it's outrageous. Here you got a professional woman, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and Barbara Boxer is sort of throwing little jabs because Condi doesn't have children, as if that means that she doesn't understand the concerns of parents. Great leap backward for feminism."--Tony Snow

9. It was during the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing yesterday
I have heard the tape 3 times now. Boxer was making the point that she herself had no immediate family who would pay the price for the war, that her children were too old and her grandchild was too young. Then she said that as she understood it, Rice has no immediate family that would be similarly affected either. She NEVER said that Rice didn't have children.

As I have tirelessly pointed out on every thread dealing with this issue, the RW has completely distorted what Boxer said. Unfortunately, some DUers are going along with them and saying that Boxer is classless for bringing Rice's childlessness into the argument. Which Boxer didn't do.

I maintain that since a)she didn't say it and b)we have ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF WHATSOEVER that Boxer believes that women who don't have children can't or don't have empathy for our soldiers, is simply an unreasonable stretch. As progressive Democrats we shouldn't be buying into the RWers arguments, IMHO. It seems like a strange thing for a progressive Dem to do.

5. The funniest part of this is that the first person to SLAM Condi was
Laura Bush! In an interview, Laura said something about Condi never being married andbeing alonein the world. There was quite a long thread on DU about how this was a real backhanded slam. I didn't get it and asked for an explaination. Apparently people who were born and raised in the South understood that it meant Condi never could attract a man. It was about two months ago so I don't know if the thread still exists here on DU, but I'll look.

I just find it funny that the WH is all excited about Barbara's comment, and they sure ignored Laura's.

6. I love how they
pretend they are so insulted ...and nobody mentions Boxers real point...nobody but the soldier's and there families are being asked to sacrifice anything...not Bush or his family, not Condie or her family, not the taxes of the Rich....

but why talk about that when can pretend it was about the fact that Condie has no had children...does anybody really think she should breed anyway?

12. This is their M.O. Murtha attacked the troops. Kerry insulted the troops. Boxer
insulted sunle women.

Never mind that each one of those Dems is a stellar advocate for the group they supposedly attacked and inssulted, eh?

11. I just realized something - someone on DU once said
that they saw Barbara Boxer out shopping for groceries. Condi shops for shoes. I think that says a lot.

it's amazing how many DUers buy into this crap lock, stop, and barrel. Stop reading, watching, and listening to the MSM.
