My thinking tonight: CLARK/OBAMA 08? What do YOU think?
Wes Clark provides a solid foreign policy/military background (no 'R' can touch him) and provides Obama with the seasoning on the world stage to give him the Presidency. Just my 2 cents, adjusted for inflation, tonight...

another Democrat out of the Senate, and we need to solidify and build upon our majority there. We HAVE TO watch our flanks, be vigilant on ALL fronts. ALL fronts. We need to focus on adding more Democrats, not only to add to our lead but to contain and blunt the damage from that schmuck bush-kisser/turncoat joe lieberman.

BTW - Welcome to DU!!!

13. Bingo!
Gore for his policital skills, Clark for his military. After this dunce, we are going to have to mop on on both fronts.

45. GORE / CLARK is not only the STRONGEST...........
Edited on Sat Jan-13-07 09:07 AM by charles t

Gore/Clark would not only be the strongest ticket, but would be the ticket that, once elected, would be most effective, once elected, at ending the war and restoring American democracy.

IMHO, a Gore/Clark administration would be the most difficult one for the right wing smear machine to combat, both during the campaign and after the election.

That's why Rubert Murdock's Faux News polls pretend neither Gore nor Clark are possibilities. Rubert Murdock believes McCain can beat either Clinton or Obama.

6. Clark definately needs a role in the next administration
just because he's a soldier and seasoned diplomat-it will take someone with these talents to help start cleaning up the mess in the Middle East. At this point, I'm keeping my eyes open and haven't decided which candidate to favor.

Anyone else - although - might be able to win and/or might do a good job - could NOT stand anywhere near what these two men are capable of doing for this country.

46. I agree....

The right realizes that, far too often, their smears work by forcing their target to veer right and accomodate the right's agenda.

They believe that some politicians would never be effective at defeating the warmongers..... Murdock thinks that fear of the smear machine would create a malleable president.

Why would Murdock think such a thought?

And why is Murdock afraid of Gore, and of Clark?

39. No way! Clark is much better prepared to be President.
If Obama is VP he can get 8 years of valuable experience and be 8 years older...which is a good thing. We'd be almost guaranteed of 16 years of the Presidency. If Obama were President...we'd only be guaranteed 8 years as the other great candidates will probably consider themselves too old for another run in 2016. Why take that chance? A Clark/Obama ticket is a sure thing and an Obama/? in 2016 would be another sure bet.

19. After Barack's response to Bush's "Surge Spiel" the other night...
.... I was positive that no one (aside from Clark? ) could have done a better job!!!

Even Chris Matthews said:

" -- that's why he's a top contender. He was eloquent, he was sharp, he answered some tough questions, and he did all of that with not a single note, that was straight from the heart"

When McCain was on one of the shows later, he sounded weak, uncertain, and WIMPISH ---->

Barack Obama is a natural.

I think either he or General Clark can debate old man McCain or whoever winds up as the GOP candidate, under the table.

The problem is.. .. neither one of them (Obama or Clark) has entered the race yet..

=Sigh=

If only Clark COULD win the nomination, but I doubt he even runs. If he doesn't run, it'll set him up to be the sure VP pick by Obama when Obama wins, which I think he will.

Great as a running mate for a veteran candidate. Great as a headliner with a novice (Obama or Edwards) as his vp candidate. But Clark ought to be somewhere.

26. Honestly, wtf would anyone press for Obama/Clark?
Put the experience and leadership and brilliance at the top of the ticket, put the charm and relatively youthful potential at VP.....

And you have an almost guaranteed 16 year Democratic POTUS dynasty, and a freaking brilliant one at that.
