Why don't you tell us. I've answered your question as best I can. I don't know for sure, nor likely does anyone here. Considering Clark is friends with George Soros, he probably knows a lot of New York money people. Perhaps the ones sponsoring Giuliani, perhaps people like Murdoch who cheerlead for this war.

38. In the context of his comments the Jewish community is split.
He is hardly condemning Jews. He is condemning people in that community who are attempting to buy votes in support of widening the war to include Iran and Syria. These are the people bushco listen to. They will need new politicians to carry their water in 2 years. He has a wider message in those comments and in his several op-eds and guest appearances. Beyond what is presently taking place in Iraq looms the threat of a wider war. That is what he has been saying about looking narrowly at Iraq is akin to rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic while the Captain of the ship steers us toward an iceberg (Iran). He is saying wake up to the greater threat. We noticed the alarm on the part of Matthews and Olberman after the "surge" speech as they began to finally become aware of the bigger picture. In the meantime we have even more petty concerns about a possible slight. It is similar to the WH attack on Boxer for making clear that the "deciders" have no skin in the game. False outrage will get you nowhere on this, our Country is at stake.

That is why I point out PNAC. Again, do you know who and what they are? Do you know who Lieberman is? Do you know how much money he raised for his campaign against Lemont? Obviously it wasn't the fact they were Jewish that upset Clark, it is the cause they are putting the money to.

54. Some are and some aren't. You are leaving out Right wing Christians by the way.
Clark said that Jewish opinion is divided on the wisdom of attacking Iran. Much of the current financial support for hard line likud policies in Israel comes from the American Christian Right, who see various religious prophesies playing out with Israel and the middle east. Much of the effort to discredit Wes Clark over this comment, efforts very similiar to your own here now, are being coordinated by Republican Organizations (some of them Jewish).

There is a literal meaning to what Clark said, and it is literally true. There is a hell of a lot of money in New York, and much money from throughout the United States gets coordinated through New York both because A) New York is the financial capital of the United States and B) because New York is America's most international city, and many groups with an international agenda are based out of New York.

53. Definition: NY Money People
For whatever it is worth (or costs you) this is my opinion.

Definition: "NY money people" are New Yorkers with significant wealth that have huge influence on our government because they have money and freely throw it around to special interest groups that they support.

Predominantly they make their wealth in the global/US financial sector. Includes Wall Street exchange seat holders, hedge fund managers, money managers , traders, investment bankers, private money, arbitrageurs, etc. Typical end of year bonuses are on the order of 6-7 digits. I.E. A Goldman Sachs job is a true gold mine. The NY money people skim off a HUGE portion of the GDP of the USA with their commissions and fees.

They have become very very rich on the backs of American workers, and frankly I don't agree it to be deserving.

43. I have several close Jewish friends who sometimes criticize certain Israeli policies
Do you know what they inevitably are called, every time they do, by some other Jewish supporters of current Israel government policies? "Self Hating Jews". It's such a convenient accusation to have available to hurl, don't you think? Don't listen to that person, that person is a self hating Jew. End of discussion. Well there may well be some self hating Jews, it takes all kinds as they say. But Clark never denies that he is half Jewish. What you are talking about are people who in public deny that they are gay while they make homophobic comments. Seems like a different situation, don't you think?

Its the people (or corporations) in the New York area (financial center of the U.S./world) who spend money to influence political decisions in such a way as to further their own (or corporate) interest for the purpose of profit taking during war or preparation for war or constant state of war planning.

Could be energy related, banking/financial, technology, etc.

66. Ok KJ - here is my take on this issue.
Wes Clark, and all of the rest of us, know that a group of people want to increase our engagement in the ME. Various reporters and reports indicate that the group pushing for wider engagement is the PNAC. It seems to me that the PNAC basically fronts a whole lot of financial interests. Several prominent members of the PNAC are jewish.

I see the main reasons we are involved to the extent that we are in the ME as follows: (1) Preserve/protect Israel and (2) Capture the oil resources. Also, the war profiteering is a good result for the NY money people - whoever they are. The jewish members of PNAC may push ME involvement for item number one primarily. But, this (PNAC) has become a marriage made in hell.

Meanwhile U.S. blood and public treasure is being spread across the region for the interests of a few and more and more American citizens want to know why. I have personally heard more anti-Israel comments in the past year than I have heard in my prior 60 years. Joe Lieberman's actions are what is driving the question - Does he put the U.S. first or Israel first?

22. Uhh no, he didn't.
Mel said "Jews are responsible for all wars" and varios other despicable things.

And I assume the "New York Money People" are people that have money, live in New York, and support Bush? Being that the majority of Jewish people vote Democrat, I highly doubt he was talking about them.

Could it have been more concise? Certainly. But you are really reaching here.

Besides you may want to take a look in the mirror, because Jews were the first thing that came into YOUR MIND when you read that phrase. So I take it you think of Jewish people whenever anyone mentions people with money from New York? Seems pretty antisemetic to me.

ADL accepts Clark explaination

The Anti-Defamation League accepted Wesley Clark’s explanation of a remark in which he blamed belligerence against Iran on “New York money people.”
Clark, a former NATO commander and a likely Democratic presidential candidate in 2008, was quoted on the Huffington Post political blog as saying that his greatest worry is that the Bush administration will attack Iran.

Attending swearing-in parties for the new Congress, Clark told Arianna Huffington, “The Jewish community is divided but there is so much pressure being channeled from the New York money people to the office seekers.”

The Republican Jewish Coalition tagged the statement as anti-Semitic and demanded an apology; the ADL sought an explanation.

Clark wrote that he backed dialogue with Iran while not removing a military option.

“My position on Iran should not be misinterpreted, defined out of context or used to create conspiracy theories about one group’s influence on U.S. foreign policy. There is no place in these critical policy debates for anti-Semitic conspiracy theories that blame the Jewish community for the war in Iraq and for action against Iran.”

Abraham Foxman, ADL’s national director, told JTA he was satisfied that Clark “understood ... how his words could be misconstrued.”

http://www.thejewishweek.com/news/newscontent.php3?artid=13527

snip

“While we know is a good friend of Israel and is not an anti-Semite, he still engaged in inappropriate language by talking about how Israel and Jewish money will move this country to war on Iran,” Foxman said. “At a time when Jews are being accused of bringing about the war in Iraq, that’s very disturbing. We know this is not the real Clark — but he said it. We’re worried because these ideas seem to be moving into the mainstream. It’s not just David Duke anymore.”

63. Fine. Then why are you still questioning Clark?
Why haven't you moved on to saying that you are concerned about creeping anti semitism, like Foxman did, rather than keeping the focus on Clark? Yes Foxman is not happy with the choice of words Clark used. If you were simply saying why you think it would have been much better had Clark should used different language, fine I would not spend time debating you on that. But you keep asserting a fear that Clark might be anti-semetic. Foxman says that is not so. So are you satisfied with that point now? If not then you are being disingenuous to quote from someone who says that Clark is not anti-semetic while implying the opposite.

Foxmans says, and I gladly quote: "While we know (Clark)is a good friend of Israel and is not an anti-Semite he still engaged in inappropriate language... We know this is not the real Clark — but he said it."

They are concerned about the words, but they are not concerned about Wes Clark, got it?

62. Here's An Answer For You:
Since you just beat the shit out of that dead horse:

THE New York money people are the ones that will put Wesley Clark in the White House, that's who they are. Deal with it.
