16. Makeup? It's not just that. Take a pic of yourself w/a strong light from the side &
see how you look, BigD, when you've got strong shadows highlighting any imperfections you might have.

Shit, even I can't pass the light from the right test and come out looking perfect!

She simply looks like a hard-working person. I carry no particular brief for Senator Clinton, but I do think stooping to comment on her appearance is about as snarky as can be.

While I may disagree with her on many issues (she's too DLC/pro-business for me), I think she looks fine. Distinguished, in fact.

On edit: ABC News has just reported Senator Clinton has said from Iraq that it is time to redeploy the troops home.

10. eh?
First, why on earth is Senator Clinton's 'without makeup' appearance of interest? I am interested in her response to Dumbass's speech, I am not interested in how she looks.

Second, she looks fine to me as a woman in her late 50's who looks like a woman in her late 50s. Is she supposed to look 20? I find the botox and surgery and collogen disasters that the hollywood women in their 50's and beyond have done to themselves idiotic and grotesque. People who are comfortable with themselves and their age are far more attractive to me than those who desperately try to look like something that they cannot possibly be. I'll choose Meryl Streep over Melanie Griffith any day.

34. thanks, Warren
I'm struck by how often I look at a Hollywood gal and instead of thinking she looks good, I'm thinking gawd why is she still trying to look like she's in her 20's? People lose the character in their face when they cannot smile or make a decent expression.....I'll take my wrinkles any day over a permanent look of surprise.

19. Hillary is beautiful
the face lines that women develop as they age make them look more compellingly attractive. It shows wisdom, maturity, and character.

Yesterday, I told a friend i was 42 years old. She looked at me and said: you look younger, I thought you were in your 30s! Most women would have been flattered by that remark. I was not ... I really want face lines! :)

23. Why is this an issue?
Why should women "have" to wear makeup, "have" to "look young", "have" to have children (now I'm thinking of the repuke reaction to Boxer's remarks to Rice)? Isn't this buying into a sexual stereotype? I'm more interested in what she DOES than how she LOOKS.

25. that's an unusual shot of her
I've seen her 3 times in the past year, not from a distance but within 2 feet, and she doesn't look like that in person at all, or in most of her photographs. She's a lot more petite than she seems on tv or in photos, and she's always so well put together.

But to the substance of what she said, I'm glad she spoke out in this way. Ambitions or no, I don't think Hillary joins any choir of opinion until she is damn good and ready. And obviously, she is ready now.

28. "She's a lot more petite than she seems on tv"
That's what surprised me so much a few years ago when my wife and I went to hear her speak in our area. She was so petite. She was also radiating in personality and looks when you got up close to her. After her talk, she stayed so everyone could come up and meet her if they wanted. Nice lady and way more personable than what people give her credit for.

The OP obviously isn't impressed with hillary's looks "without make-up". but he doesn't want to come out and say so. That must be because he realizes what a shallow, sexist opinion he really has. Too bad he didn't realize before posting that if you don't want to clearly explain your "point", there's probably something wrong with it.

That is a superficial, sexist, immature post by someone who thinks that women have an obligation to be "pretty scenery" for him and that any woman who does not serve this function is to be ignored or ridiculed.

That's what you're really saying, isn't it, bigdarryl?

All that is missing is a smile and if you expect Hillary or Nancy or any other member of Congress, male or female to be smiling anytime soon you are in for a long wait. I hope these people keep looking for the long needed solutions to this nations problems. While they are working on this I do not care what they look like. I know this has to be taking a physical toll on these folks. When I look at myself in the mirror I see it there as well. Peace on earth, Kim
