Chuck Todd: "Obama and Hillary will court Hagel as running mate."
Edited on Mon Jan-15-07 07:27 PM by Ninja Jordan
On Hardball just now, Chuck Todd indicated that if Obama or Hillary, a black man and a white woman, were to win the Democratic nomination, each would actively court republicans as running mates. I like Hagel, but he's about one of 5 republicans I can stand. Hagel has actually been awesome on the war. More outspoken than most democrats!

1. By 2008, I think it is more likely that repub candidates
will actively court Dems as running mates. By 2016 you won't be able to find anyone in the US who will admit to ever have voted for bush.

27. Kerry - McCain
Edited on Mon Jan-15-07 09:33 PM by Robson
Remarkably I still see a few with Bush / W bumper stickers. They have no shame and no pride.

But remember the Kerry - McCain rumors that died after McCain said no dice. Things have ever been the same between them.

4. All because of a pretend smackdown?
So instead of McCain, now that piece of crap Hagel is going to be the Democratic's hero? Because of that farce of a smack down Liebermann.

Well that's what this pretense of a smackdown was part of. This was just a step in weakening Democrats, and getting us to look to a rethug for help.

7. I think it's more an issue of Hillary (a woman) and Obama (a black) having to compensate somehow.
And by adding a guy like Hagel, it may defend the apparent political weakness of being a woman or a black.

Washington Journal, actually he has a segment on there just about every day. I think they call it the Hotline with Chuck Todd, but I zone out when I see the Ed Bryant for Senate signs displayed in the background. Ed Bryant??? Freaky rwing, fake christian, fake religious nutzoid from TN?

14. More media BS.
Obama is not going to have a Republican running mate, for a very simple reason: in the event that something happened to him, the country would end up with a Republican president. The same would go for Clinton, but she is most likely not going to be the nominee.

The media still haven't caught on to the major progressive movement going on in the U.S. right now. They've been going out of their way to characterize the outcome of the 2006 elections as a move to the right by the Democratic party, ignoring all the evidence to the contrary. With the public voting overwhelmingly Democratic in 2006, no Democrat will want to associate her/himself with the Republican party in 2008.

Hagel - vote privatizer, vote thief? How ironic! Todd is mad or clever. He just propelled Hagel.

NO WAY. I'll say it now - if any Dem teams up with Hagel - I'm not voting,

25. I don't know how in the blazes that would work though.
Would Hagel then become a Democrat?

If Hillary or Obama were elected president for two terms, would he then succeed them garnering the democratic nomination as a...republican?

Tricky tricky.
