Poll question: 2008 DU Presidential Straw Poll
Edited on Tue Jan-16-07 02:55 AM by Clarkie1
Haven't had one of these lately. Assuming all of these fine Democrats run, whose your choice "if the election were held today," so to speak?

1. Biden should have one less vote...I just remembered he is running.
Changed "other" to "Biden"

10. I was that other

Now I feel dirty.

I voted "other" and was going to write in Gore. Then my connection got dropped (it must be the cold snap because it has been going in and out for the past few hours), so I took the dogs in the backyard and when I was able to get back on the internet I had totally forgotten about the poll until I saw your other post about it just now.

edited to add: Now I know how Florida voters felt in 2000. :scared:

Sorry Gore supporters....write him in!

16. Yeah, who's running this straw poll, Diebold?
Jk

What I've learned so far--insomniacs seem to like Clark.

7. That's right, but there's only 10 spaces...O.K., I will replace Sharpton with Dodd.
No offense to Sharpton (he hasn't announced yet, has he?) fans, I hope.

6. Man, I would love to see Clark break into the main stream a little more.
He usually does well here with the base, but the media acts like he doesn't exist compared to others.

8. That is true, but a good question is why?
Maybe because to know him is to support him.....

In a time of war and great chaos, can't have someone who knows about winning wars and negotiating peace being in the mix. Wouldn't be fair to the other contestants, afterall! Can't have a Southern General with great looks getting too much attention, could we?

I mean afterall, read my sig quote and check out the date. Being correct from the gate in this day and age has its problems. Seems like it works better just to be wrong.

13. Gore will likely win this, if you put him on.
He seems to be the preferred candidate on DU.

19. It's gotta be Gore!
Edited on Tue Jan-16-07 06:36 AM by Apollo11
Nobody is better qualified to be President of the United States than Al Gore.

Gore has been proven right on so many issues, from climate change to the invasion of Iraq.

Next Monday he will draw a crowd of more than 12000 people for a speech in Boise, Idaho !! :)

If he is ready and willing to seek the Dem nomination, I predict that Gore will lead the field.

Born in 1948, Gore is younger than Kerry, Clark, McCain, Giuliani ... even Hillary!

Unless and until he endorses another candidate, we should assume he is keeping his options open.

I look forward to reading his forthcoming book - The Assault on Reason - due out in May.

In Gore We Trust :)

20. Right now we need the most intelligent, forward looking.....
President we can get. After having Mr. "I'd like to have a beer with" Bush we need the brightest person as opposed to the "aw shucks", "guy next door" (which is still a crock). I don't want to have a beer with my President. I want him/her to be so much smarter than me that I couldn't possibly carry on a meaningful conversation with him/her.

Al's the best hope we have in my opinion. Re-elect Gore in '08! :applause:
