2. I expect to see references to that on Canadian news tonight.

Since this is far from a dead issue in Canada - the head of the federal police force resigned over the issue after his own testimony was found to be... lacking certain consistencies with reality, if not rising to the level of say, perjury, necessarily. Incompetence beneath and below the call of duty at minimum... over the federal cops spreading dirt in the media about the completely innocent man to save their butts after his release from Syria after even the Syrians were convinced he wasn't worth torturing for info.
